Probably silly question...

Talk about events, bands, music, great deals, and cool sites to visit. Generally anything music related.

Probably silly question...

Post by Synthoid »

What are "beats" and how does one make money selling them?

I'm just confused.......I assume we are referring to some sort of looped rhythms and/or drums, but who is going to buy someone else's "beats?" Why not just get your own Electribe or some pre-packaged "everything is done for you" software and DIY?

THst's the terminology from HIP-HOP Culture, Everything is different in that culture.

Beats in our terminology will mean DrumGroove, or Hip-Hop Song (if you can call it a song).

They call it a beat becuase during the production the only thing played or recorded "manually" are drums, everything else, besidedes the vocals are Sampled!
That's why it's not really music, but beats...

Cheers,
Eric

PS: Finally made the usual winter migration, only later this season. Hope to bump into you while I'm down - maybe over at Sam's or GC.
