esx1 and cubase

Post by itch. »

suggestions on the best way to use my esx1 wiht cubase please,

only been running cubase about three weeks (indeed, only had computer about 3 weeks) so please keep explainations simple or step by step.

id love to be able to get the bulk of my beats mapped out on cubase in the same sort of way i do on the electribe becase i can really easily picture everything and find it so easy to work wiht the 'tribe.

is there a vst wiht similar controls, esp the modulation? id like to be able to set the controls of teh electribe to similar conrtols on whatever vst im using. how do i start (is it?) "midi mapping?"

iv got a roland pcr30 which i always use, and have worked out i can feed midi info in from the electriobe via. hitting record on cubase and playing a tube on the electribe brings up so much darta i cant make head nor tail of it.

any help very greatly appreciated. normally if you point me in the right direction i can work alot of stuff out.

Where u been itch ? thought u would've been in the compo .

I dont know bout cubase sx , but i used 3.7 alot years ago .

All i can tell u is that 4 ur drums u need to open up the drum map/editor n drop in the notes ( u'll hav to make sure ur mx is setup correctly and for drum notes n u need to set both pc n tribe to channel 10 ) .
This is a really good way to do jungle/dnb as u can take ur drum loop n copy n paste it then modify the arrangement ... and do the same again n again , til u got all ur variations .

But , thats all i can tell u , i dont use any sofware now at all really .
Hope u can get a little something from that til someone else drops sa tip or two .

cheers, iv got a massive music-computer geek comming over to help me out sometime soon so he should be able to help me.

i really dont like making beats on cubase, sure i love the sounds, but sequencing everything takes ages, and im stuck wiht jungle.

with the electribe i can pretty well much play finger drums and get wicked beats so, like i said, i wanna make beats on the electribe then just transfere the midi data over and attach the sounds to the midi notes.

also i wanna be able to assign the cutoff, resonance, modulation, etc the the corresponding controls on whatever vst im using. i just found myself getting bored of the built in mono-synth on the elctribe after about 4 months.

and yeah, i got a laptop (my first computer) in mid december and havent really played on my electribe much since, although i'm gunner record one of the tunes i got finished tmorrow night and ill post it up

my softwear made tunes are at www.myspace.com/itchygurnhard if anyone is interested.
