Life has been catching up with me lately, havent had any free time. I'm going to try to work on my entry tonight.

By the way... Ruso, I'm totally diggin' your track. Love it! Sucks I get paired with someone so good but I'm just glad to be a part of this whole thing.

Will work on mine asap!

thanks for compliments, highly appreciated ;)
I'd say for a next tournament we should figure out something like different skill levels have different classes....
also, don't get discouraged, do your best I'd still love to listen and give feedback to what you have to say through your tribe ;)

Hey - thanks for the kind words.

I wrote most of that on the second day I had my electribe.

I'm writing some new stuff now, which might get used if I make it through Round 1, which I like much better.

:D

I must say I can see what you're trying to express in that track and I can also see that the sounds you used are not quite what you wanted.... the electribe is very touchy when finding a particular sound that you want and it's not easy to come up with it.... I can see tallent in it but t he instruments really kill the sound for me(as nice as the electribes are like I just said synth sounds are really hard to make sound how you want)....

We want new tribes!!!!!

Better yet, those that don't win in round one, should be able to go into a little sub-comp between themselves.

That will allow everyone an opportunity to keep writing and competing in a friendly comp. It will also be a great comp for those who are still finding their feet, and give us all more tunes to listen to.

Oh - and Ruso - big ups. I'm not normally into DnB, but your track is sweet.

Absolutely. I'm slowly getting the hang of this little beast, and have learnt heaps since I wrote that track.

They are touchy little things, especially getting the envelope to do exactly what you want.

the machine keeps outdoing what I expect it to, with these things you really gotta look outside the box..... I tell ya latelly I've come up with very intence sounds using the comb synth mode with all sorts of modulations.... I'll tell you right now if I took this track I'm working on right now and put it into the tournament I'd get accused of cheating and asked to put up a video cause of how much depth each sound has.... honestly untill recently I've thought the electribes to be very flat sounding.... but I've been able to bypass the unique sound of the emx by far!!!!

anyways I do agree with a sub tourney for the round losers, to me this really is about pushing my knowledge to the limits and get a few tracks under my belt.... it's a very good educational experience.

p.s. thanks for comments on the track, you should look deeper into drum n bass it's a whole different world of techno, there is probably as many different styles of drum n bass as there are styles of other techno... I'll guarantee you'll be amazed. ;)

It was good of you to organize this Primate. I was going to say that having both tracks submitted to someone so they both could be posted without having heard the other would be an interesting addition, but I've been in a beat battle before at a club and you just have a cd where you have x number of beats and as long as you don't go first you can play something in contrast to what was just played so it's a normal thing as far as I have expierenced .

Are the people from the soundclick community aware of this battle or just the people on here? I looked around and it didn't look like it had many views other than from the people coming from this electribe forum, and I didn't see a post in their general electronic forum. I don't know if it's against their rules to post such a notice in there or not but since only soundclick members can vote I figure it'd add a larger audience. Not a huge deal though, I had not become familiar with soundclick until this thread.

Trying to get my track finished up, it's been a challenge only using the electribe (I use all kinds of other stuff with mine) and it's killing me not being able to compress the mix with a good compressor, but that adds to the challenge I guess. Though it may not hurt in future battles to maybe allow compression over the entire mix..maybe? :? The electribes benefit from this greatly and it doesn't add any "effect" for effects sake but just to smooth things out and make it a little less blunt in the speakers. Just a thought though. If the electribes had a good fully featured compressor then that would be happy times.

It'll be interesting to watch this all pan out. I like the discussion about the already posted tracks. :D

I disagree, a compressor drastically changes the sound.... by drastic I mean with a nice compressor added an electribe doesn't sound like an electribe any more.....

I'll be happy if I can use my compressor - a Kurzweil KSP8 :P

I think it opens up a can of worms allowing even compressors. Just take the raw output and we're all on the same footing.

I've had to cringe every time I listen to my track because I couldn't put it through my FX loops and Post Rack, but I know that everyone else has the same issues, so I'm all good.
