Any rumors regarding a new Electribe @ NAMM?

Post by klangsulfat »

I'm still waiting for a black-coloured Electribe, based on the Radias engine, with expandable sample memory, integrated Kaossilator, USB, CF (or SD) card slot and wooden side panels ;-)

I don't have my hopes up because when they have new products for NAMM, Korg usually hints to it on their website. But you would think they will have to move fast due SM card is obsolete.

My response is about the sx in particular since I don't own an mx.

What's posted above would be awesome I agree. Though usb would be awesome for the audio in addition to sample/pattern transfer, I doubt they could do it affordably i'm begining to think. I'd really love idividual outputs for everything or a breakout box of sorts to "add on" with individual outs to keep the price of the actual unit down. Kaosillator would be a cool addition but i wouldn't be upset if they left the slider/ribbon controller. More synth parts would be great but buying an mx can make up for that. Though it'd be cool if they realised an MX with at least a little sample space for waveforms. That would be great instead of adding them to the sx and making it more expensive.
A better compressor would be nice if they aren't going to give it more outputs, and keeping things in stereo on all the effects like distortion instead of forcing it into mono.

I'm not holding out for korg though, I hope they do another electribe as its been a while since they released one but there is another device that will be as awesome as an electribe and add all sorts of stuff that korg will never add (though i wouldn't mind kicking myself for being wrong on that ;))

Anyway it's the Linn Drum II by Roger Linn and Dave Smith. Instead of describing it at length i'll just post a link. I will however quote one thing I wish Korg would do with the electribes. It has " ...the ability to switch between beats, drop in and out of record on different beats, switch in and out of song mode and much more, all without stopping play. " Being able to play different patterns at once and edit them on the electribes would be quite nice. You can technically sample a whole pattern on the SX and put it into a part, but then its a sample and you can't tweak the details of it. It will be more expensive but better than an mpc and unless korg puts out updated electribes, in my opinion it will be better "feature wise" than an electribe. Though there's nothing quite like my SX and I wouldn't like to think of trading one for the other but rather having both. But it's gonna be a beast. Hope korg can bring something new and awesome to the table like this thing. The Linn has everything described above minus the kaoscillator, and much more. There's cool stuff on the mono machine too that would be nifty on the electribes but I think it's best to leave the monomachine to itself as it's a little different.

There's threads about it on other message boards, I suppose it's a bit off topic here.

Anyway, NAMM is coming up so I've got my fingers crossed. Really hoping for some radias stuff implemented, I absolutely love the radias.

There must be a way to find out it they are going to release another tribes series . I am 99% confident they will .

ALL the electribes hav been popular , and Korg know that the same people who bought n loved the first ones then bought the X tribes , will be happy to part with their cash for the latest innovative model .

They'd be smart n do the right thing by re-working the original X-tribes into MkII's ( and i think they will , korgs history in synths suggest this )
, which would probably see 1 or 2 useful alterations to the systems .... and then of course release the big beasties , whatever they may be called.

Who knows when we'll hear , but i'm sure we will ... electribe sales are really what will determine this , and all tribes bar EMX1 and ESX1 are discontinued wjich suggests sales are still good .... i think the wait mite be longer than we think ........ though i hope not really

Electribe Update

Post by HencheMann »

All the suggestions sound awesome. I'm hoping for a black, green, back-lit led menace to come next...with....with...KORG, ARE YOU LISTENING?!....

.....POLYPHONY!!?? ...FOR THE SAKE OF GOD CAN I GET SOME POLYPHONY UP IN HERE?!!

By the way, this is the coolest, nicest, gear board I've been on. So, peace to everyone for being all about good vibes, good music and good gear.

come on peeps, this type of topic has been started way too many times on this forum... there's no reason to start another one... there are a lot of features that can be added to the electribes, yes.... most of them are very obvious and I highly doubt korg is gonna implement them any time soon. In fact even more so I highly doubt korg will be looking at a third party website for ideas for the next product....

I mean I hate to break hopes but we've been hoping for a long while now... even before I was a member of this community, when I used t o read on livepa, people started the same topic as this.....

I also want a new box but untill it comes up there's no need to dream.
