power not correct on padKontrol?

Post by siriusbliss »

Hi, I've been meaning to post about this for a while now.

My padKontrol only seems to power up correctly with USB cable plugged in rather than the AC. I would prefer to power up the unit with AC, and use MIDI interface in my system instead of USB.

With the AC, nothing lights up on the padKontrol surface, the LCD goes blank, and I get no response from the unit.

Is this a 'design feature', or is this particular unit semi-busted?

It DOES work correctly in USB mode, but I'm tired of hogging more USB (IRQ's) on my system with yet one more unnecessary USB connection.

Thanks,

Greg

It might have something to do with the amperage of the adapter you’re using. I’m not sure what Korg recommends, but the 9v/0.2 amp adapter I have works perfectly.

But I thought I was using the PS unit supplied by Korg with the padKontrol?

It's been so long I can't remember getting a power supply with the PK. I presume so.

Hmmmmm....guess I'll have to try another 9V supply.
