M3-M Attached to a Fantom-X8?

I have the Triton Extreme 88, not the Triton Studio, but there shouldn't be any difference. I can play my M3 from the M3 keys themselves (of course), the Triton Extreme, and my Nord Modular G2. I am just using the factory setup for MIDI - no changes.

Do you have some other way of testing your MIDI in port? Do you have a MIDI interface for your computer (rather than using the USB connection to the M3)? If you have any other gear that can send MIDI notes through the MIDI in port on your M3 then you should be able to easily verify whether or not the port is the problem.

Also, have you verified that the Triton MIDI out is actually sending the notes? Again, if you have a MIDI interface or some other MIDI gear then you should be able to test that as well.

Also, if you want to test your M3 at GC remember that you only have to take in the module... a lot easier than taking in your whole keyboard.

Hi - Thanks for your response.

I verified my TS is fine by using Karma Triton (PC software). That works as advertised. What is interesting is if I get the Karma thing working, and quickly unplug the midi cables from the TS to the M3 - it works for a few seconds than quits. This makes me think that the M3 is having midi clock problems.

Yes - I could just take the module - much better than lugging the whole M3 around.

I think I am out of options at this point. Good thing Korg offers a 1 yr. since I registered online.

Maybe. Karma software requires a specific keyboard (in your case, the Triton) to be connected to the computer. It is entirely possible that the software regularly pings the MIDI connection to make sure that the keyboard is still there and then dies if the Triton goes away. I don't know how they implemented the keyboard check in the Karma software.

Either way, it seems like checking out the MIDI connections with another device would be a good idea.

Interesting points - yes a good test would be to find some free PC software or trial that let me send midi data. I could test w/TS since I know that works, then try the M3.

Any ideas on PC midi software?

Well - used some PC software and am able to midi in both directions from the PC to the TS, and from the PC to the M3.

I can control the TS from the M3, but can not control the M3 from the TS.

Then - just a short while ago the TS lowest 21 keys stopped working

AAAghhhhh!!

So I dunno .... guess it'll have to go in for repair
