My PA2X seems to be ok at this stage
DjStiky,
allthough my PA2x seems to be ok, however I have noiticed some times the display page seems to freeze within the menu's, and transitions. Can you please give me a step by step proceedure, as to how you get your PA2x to freeze. In a response at least I will be able to tell you that mine is ok, and maybe you have a bigger problem.

Hi Mono
Ok, time for cool drink here. I guess you have tried all of the solutions provided in thne manual, sounds like there was a power outage during the install to me. Ring your local Korg distibutor, and they should be able to talk you through some of the testing proceedures to get you back on board

I called them they even could not help me, all they did was , told me to take it to a repair center and the problem with that is that ny warranty is not gonno cover because I bought this keyboard from Belgium. Anybody who has that formating program please share so I can be back in running.
Thank you all.
Thank you all.

Mono,
I know how frustrating this is for you. Korg have developed an SSD format utility to fix exactly the problem you have encountered. The software is only just being tested and is not yet on general release. I am trying to help you behind the scenes and you should receive a private email soon. Please have patience for a day or two.
Best regards,
Rob

Yes it is very frustrating. I have been using pa series since the pa80 came out and always loved korg KB. But right now I feel that I am not getting support from them anymore. All of us here we spend all this thousands of dollars to keep up with the new technology, but korg has very poor technical support in Korg Usa New York. Nobody has any clue how to give support, all you hear from them is ( TAKE IT TO A REPAIR CENTER) Cant wait to get my unit in running, please help as soon as possibly you can.

Hello guys. Finnaly I brought my KB back to life. I want to tell you the steps that I went thru to get the KB working. As of now it works, it might freeze again tomorrow, which is very possible, but if it does I am gonno send my unit back to Belguim and there is no questions about it, becauce I have spent too many days and hours ( not countable) working on this keyboard. Finaly we all here are musicians not technicians!
Here is the steps that I have gone thru to make it work , it could be different with yours but it might help, becauce I did mine and frend of mines, which had the exact problem.
1. Load the SSD format file.
2. Load the OS only not the ( OS and res.pkg.)
3. After it has been booted load your set, which should contain PCM data
4. Turn it off and load The OS-res. pkg file ( 127mb)
5. Turn it on, the keyboard comes back but it still froze as soon as it boots.
6. Turn it on and off anywhere from 2 to 5 times, then it shoul work, now has soon as you hit sound mode, it will freeze again.
7. Turn it off and then on again a few times until it is finaly back and running normal with no more freezing.
These are the steps I took after so much of a frustration to get the unit working and I am almost 100% sure that everyone having this freezing issue is gonno have to go thru this procedure. I have been loading sounds from another sets and no problem , also it brings all of the related samples and multisamples together.
Thank you

Hi Mono,
I understand that Paolo Tramannoni from Korg sent you the SSD format tool. The way it is supposed to be used is that after running SSD format you can straight away load OS1.51 and Musical resources 1.5
The process you followed in steps 2,3,and 4 will re-introduce instability and will "undo" everything the SSD format tool has done for you. You must always load the Korg Musical Resources immediately after reloading the OS, the system is unstable until you have done so. Certainly loading a .SET file containing PCM data before the Korg Musical Resources will really screw things up.
So I am very puzzled why you went about it in this way. It seems to be a guarantee to create problems. Did Paolo not advise you differently?
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Robkeith,
Thanks. I responded to too many threads late at night and I've become a schizophrenic
Yes this thread was Pa2x and my response mentioning OS1.51 and MR 1.50 was appropriate only for the Pa800. No, you can not load these on a Pa2x.
But, my main point is still valid. After cleaning out the SSD, then loading the Pa2x OS, Mono should have loaded the Korg Pa2x factory resources before doing anything else like loading user .SET files. Otherwise the SSD memory will become corrupted again.
Best regards,
Rob

The biginnig I did exactly the way you said on 2 keyboards not only mine. But guess what it did not work , it gave me the same problem like before. When I turned my unit on it started loading the factory resources and then when it came to the point where saying loading pcm data, it froze again (the same problem that I had before) did not do any good, therefore I went the other route to be able to make it work.
Firstable when you format the SSD and load the OS-res pkg. file and turn the unit on it should not be saying laoding pcm data, because there is not any, right?
Also I discovered another way of formating the Kb without loading the SSD formating pkg.
By pressing style play and media buttons together and turning the unit on, it will give you the options and then you can hit pad4 and that will format the SSD.

Thanks Rob for your reply so fast, thats what I like about anything Korg, and the people, players and musicians behind the product. mono, I know you are having a big problem, but i have had a few other brands in the past, and i can assure you that getting anything including answers and fixes can take some considerable time, weeks and months for some, so hang in there, I'm sure the global fixes will be on the way soon
Thanks
Thanks

Mono,
When accepting to use beta software, you also agreed to follow the exact instructions supplied with the software, and report to Korg your finding. Failing to do so can cause more harm than good.
My suggestion is to stop using the Format utility, or you risk to lose data and even damage your keyboard. An official, tested solution is on the way.
Best regards,
Paolo
