DX7 or TX7 Sounds

Post by mlavio829 »

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know where I could get a DX7 "Fulltines" sound?
The Fulltines sound is like the sound on this page:
http://www.thedx7.co.uk/DX7_samples.htm

If anyone knows or has a DX7 Fulltines sound / sample for the Pa1x that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Michael

Hi Micheal.
The "Fulltines"sound you refer to was a real classic and I've been trying for years to find it, without any success. If you do manage to get it I think quite alot of PA1xers would like a copy. There was also a brass sound on the DX7S (it was a synth brass sound and I can't remember the name) but it was used to record "Stop the cavalry" and I'd sure like to find it for the PA1x.
Good hunting

Is one of the brass sounds on this page http://www.synthmania.com/dx7.htm close to what you're looking for?

This is the very reason I still keep my DX7II around. The sounds are classic and not found anywhere. My sequences don't sound the same on any other machine. Would be great to find those sounds for Pa1x so that I can simplify my hardware setup.

I'm sure someone must have tried to create those sounds for Triton etc. We may want to look outside this forum.

But how about checking with Sharp the Great first?

Sincerely,

Well you have the ANSWER. If you have the synth, why dont you sample
them? If you dont know how to edit them afterwards send them to me,
i'll make PA1X programs for them and put them here for everybody.
Choose the sounds you want, sample by 5 notes of each, you dont need
a lot of notes anyways those are not some acoustic sounds, start from
C2 to A5 randomly, try to have the same space of keys between the notes
you sample, record them clean, record not longer then 2 seconds, zip all
of them and send it to ME or whoever is willing to do it and its done.

And if you do that, do this too:
From each sound you sample, also include one small wave or mp3 playing
some short melody just to give me a clue how it sounds on the DX just
for the FX mostly, name them the same way as the original sounds and
sample folders and thats it.

I will be happy to sample this material. Sampling is not my expertise but I will do the best I can. Thanks for the advice.

I will get to it as soon as I get a chance after the Holidays.

Hi all,

I followed the links above and noticed that you could download the *.syx file of those sounds.... Awave v9.5 introduced the ability to pull *.syx files as audio from there it is possible to create a KMP directly...
This can be done automatically so there is no need to find loop points or cut the sample up correctly. (I think you can download the fully work demo from www.fmjsoft.com)

The advantage of this is, inevitably your sample size will be smaller and neater... instead of being lets say 500kb (taking up valuable memory) it will take up about 20kb..

I have done this with all my dx11 patches...saving myself alot of memory.. and saves you the time and trouble of sampling every 3rd tone across the whole keyboard on your DX7

Hope I have helped in some way.

Great Idea MrVlad!
Thank You.
I tried that program a while ago but it was version 9 which didn't support the DX7 syx format.

Now that I have tried it I must say it does not sound at all like the mp3 sample in the website I provided.

Is there anyway to get it like the original?

Thanks

now!!!!... I did have a play with this... and I did get a good sound...
but you have to combine the 3 layers (The sound is made up of 3 layers)
into one before exporting it out to KMP...
It took me a few goes and I got it in the end...

Mail me... cos I still have the sound on my harddisk.. I can send it you and see if it is good enough for you...

regards,
Vlad

mlavio829,

I found disks, but the QuickDisc reader does not work well. Imagine, it is 20 years(!) ago I purchased it.

I need to find someone to help me fix that first.

Hi guys,

This seems to be getting more complicated than necessary. Nedim made a very kind offer. Why not just connect the (eg) DX7II via audio leads to any digital recorder, play the sounds and notes Nedim suggested onto the digital recorder and send Nedim the tracks on a CD?

You can even connect the DX7II via audio leads into a soundblaster card on a PC and create .wav files that might be OK. But sometimes the audio inputs on a PC are a bit noisy so any small digital audio recorder like the Zoom H2 costing $200 from ebay would be better.

Best regards,
Rob
