and there´s no Santa, is just your parents!Ruso wrote:come on peeps, this type of topic has been started way too many times on this forum... there's no reason to start another one... there are a lot of features that can be added to the electribes, yes.... most of them are very obvious and I highly doubt korg is gonna implement them any time soon. In fact even more so I highly doubt korg will be looking at a third party website for ideas for the next product....
I mean I hate to break hopes but we've been hoping for a long while now... even before I was a member of this community, when I used t o read on livepa, people started the same topic as this.....
I also want a new box but untill it comes up there's no need to dream.
Any rumors regarding a new Electribe @ NAMM?

To see what the next Electribe ESX should be, just take the best features of the ESX-1, Roland SP-555, and SP-606.
Not only does the SP-555 have USB-midi, but it has USB audio in/out allowing your computer to directly record from it and visa versa. The SP-555 can act as an effects loop for DAW software. It stores 12+ hours of samples to a 2GB CompactFlash card. The SP-606 integrates with Cakewalk software synths and wave editing, even becoming an external control surface for DAW software. The software integration is simply phenomenal, check out the videos on Roland's website.
Hopefully Korg is working on a update to remain competitive with Roland in this category.

My perfect tribe would be the EMX with 2 additional dedicated drum synth parts (ala ER1). I'd like each of the 5 destinations in the LFO section to have their own LFO (so scrolling down the destination lets you set each with a separate LFO that lights up when the destination is selected).
Throw in a duplicate of the current FX processor and add a dedicated reverb on the FX outputs, that allows for a lot more control, and much better quality.
Also, allow the sequencer to trigger all MIDI channels so that we can sequence our external sequencers from the EMX.

I think even an emx 1.5 with a simple bass/treble balance knob , cross mod intsead of ring , stackable 5-part share , new tubes and real electribes knobs ... would be a BEAST worth a few pennies .
yep , black with the x-tribes streaks , red behind the tubes , black knobs with red markers and a grey/black slider section , with the bass/treble balance knob beside the tube gain ... and the stacking option in the midi or part edit section .
I'd buy that at the right price , but still keep the old mx .
That machine would be EASY to build ... come on korg , mkII Emx/Sx ??

why would you want to.... sequence.... a..... sequencer!?!?!?The Puppeteer wrote:My perfect tribe would be the EMX with 2 additional dedicated drum synth parts (ala ER1). I do say that this is a very good feature request it's probably the best I've heard on here.... One thing I'd add to that is ditching some of the terrible effects and replacing them with better ones... for example, reverb like you say with more controlls else where..... it'd be nice to be able to use that as a send/return type track with adjustable levels....
but seriously, the grain shifter is crap, the reverb sux, the compressor is horrible, the ring modulation is ok but it's such a weak sound, it needs to be a lot more metalic sounding... there's no resonance effect what's so ever on it.... the talking mod is horrible, it's distorted and overloaded... no matter how hard you try it won't produce a desired effect.... the eq if you think about it is not needed at all because you have a low pass filter and a low pass filter so if you eq down the high knob it'd be a very simmilar effect to lpf with low res..... the bpm echo is allright but when you start stacking sounds with it(ie on 1/8 or 1/4) delays on a repeating sound some weird high frequency processing glitches appear which take over so much of the audible range that it muffles out other sounds....
phaser is too touchy, it creates random high pitch squeels even at the slightest volume fluctuations especially after other effect bugs
so on so fourth

hehe - I meant allow us to sequence our external synths.
While the effects aren't top notch by any stretch of the imagination, I can live with most of them. I actually like the talking mod effect. I wouldn't want it changed from what it is. Likewise the Ring Mod. I don't disagree about adding Xmod, but don't lose the Ring Mod.
The phaser is quirky, but not unusable. The compressor is a bit of a joke, the EQ's are useful when you need them, but that reverb is simply terrible.
I'd like another set of effects pretty much so I can have dedicated chains on the parts, mainly for the delays. The delays are good for what they are, though a few more variations would be nice. A multi-tap would be seriously useful, though I don't know how you'd ever program one with just 2 knobs.

Not when we're using the tribes and the 909. The laptop is in the studio, and we generally only use it for recording audio, some final mixing and doing the final mastering using the external effects.
We don't have a single set way of working. Sometimes we'll build tracks using Cubase or Live, where everything is sequenced in the computers. Sometimes we'll use the tribes and sequence everything there. These normally start off as jams that we record and then finish off the tracks using the Hard Disk recorder or the laptop.
Sometimes it's a combination.
When we play live, the laptop doesn't get used at all. We offload samples and complex sequencing to the K2600 and the Akai and sync everything up with MIDI. The tribes and the 909 run off their own sequencers.
The laptop for us is really just a glorified 8-track. Nearly all of our sound sources and FX are hardware. We have a few soft-synths and effects, and use them where it's right, but we do like our hardware. It has much more longevity than software.
We run 32 I/O from the laptop and my writing partner has a Roland VS2480 as well, which gets synced up when we need more Audio I/O.
What would be great from the POV of extra sequencer tracks in on the EMX would be to be able to have the great live features of the EMX sequencer trigger our other synths, like the Jupiter 8 for example. Having motion sequencing on those tracks would be awesome, where they send out MIDI CC for each of the knob movements on those channels, instead of manipulating the internal sounds.

cause one of the things you could do in ableton with racks is have an audio track which is mapped out like the fx chain of the tribe, and then you could have clips with envelopes set to values which through midi ox you switch with the pattern knob.... does that make sence? you could basically recreate the fx chain on the lappy and if u got a nice sound card then from all the tribes simotaniously.... using 3/4 outs. I've been thinking about shoving my lap top for live gigs under one of the electribes so I don't look at the screen and so it's not visible and using it for special features like samples and fx....

The availability of FX ain't the problem. I can just plug it into the KSP8 and create whatever chains we need, but we can't motion sequence it from within the EMX, and you've only got two mono outs with which to share everything.
A second internal FX processor would in effect give 6 patch points plus the 3/4 outs, which I think would be a better match with the 5 synth sounds and drum set.
Don't get me wrong the EMX is a mighty box, but those additions would make it a very, very mighty box. The LFO expansion is the highest on my wish list though.
