copy drumkit from one set to another set

Post by mike44 »

Hello my friends :D
I desperately need some help please:
I have been looking for a way to when I copy a style from one set to my customized set, it would retains its original drumkit and percussion sounds( I do not want to replace it with another).
Then I decided to copy the original drumkit from the first set to my customized set, but nobody can tell me how to copy a drumkit to my customized set(not to a new set) .Do you know how?
Thanks a lot for any help

copying drumkits

Post by marcony »

Hi Mike,

One way is to change DRUM/PERC track sounds in all styles from new set, but that method takes much time.

Generaly, drumkits are saved withing PCG banks, so if your prefered drumkits are in built-in banks, you can always use them in your styles. As I said, change DRUM/PERC trakcs in your styles, and then save your styles. But, if your prefered drumkits are in user PCG banks, then you might have loaded these user PCG banks all the time you want them to be used within your prefered styles...

One easy way to create your own collection of user PCG/STY/PRF banks is using my Kat2000 application. You can find more info at http://www.posta.cg.yu/istyle so be my guest.

dear Marconi

Thanks for your input. I have the Pa1x. When I copy Style A from SET #! To SET # 2, It does not carry with it its user drumkit to SET#2.
If I download PCG and samples when I use SET#2, it erases all the current samples and PCG in RAM. That's Why I need to copy that damn user drumkit to SET#2

The easiest way to do that and the safest is simply to open the PCG folder found under the "Sound" folder in the .SET

After you open the PCG files in the folder, look for the drumkit you want and simply load it in the user bank you desire of one of the sets (for example you now loaded SET1 and you want a drumkit from SET2; just select the drumkit from the SET2 folder I mentioned and load it in one of the user banks, say User DK1).

After you do this procedure, go to Disk and do a Save operation on the Set you now have loaded (i.e. SET1 with the drumkit loaded in a user bank). The next time you load the SET1, it will include the drumkit from the SET2 :D

I hope this is not too baffeling. Let me know what you did. I do it all the time with no problems. You can actually create your own Sets this way.

Sorry, forgot to mention that this same way applies to copying the drumkit to your customized one. That way, you'll have the style you copied working properly. You can edit that through the Record option and modify the drumkit if you need to.

Ok thanks for replying . But here what I have

I have set A loaded in memory. I go and download drumkit "F" from set B to memory in userdk, but there is no sound ( even though the auto PCM box is checked under preferences). So I go back and download the PCM file to memory. Now the drumkit "F" works ok, the other drumkits in memory semm to work ok, BUT the sounds in user 2 ( which have user sounds) do not work.

First why when I download the drumkit "F" to memory , the PCM files do not download automatically.

Second how to prevent it from happening, that when I download the corresponding PCM file in set B to memory from erasing other sounds.

PLEASE I NEED HELP THAT WORKS AND TRIED NOT SPECULATION> APPRECIATE IT.

Mike,

Have you turned PCM Autoload "on" ?

Also I think you are Loading the .PCG file instead of Opening it and selecting individual sounds / drumkits from within it.

I guess the word is about a PA synth but deppends which one, not all of them have the same problem.
You have to know that DRUM KITS saved under any OS less then 1.5 wont LOAD properlu and the
SAMPLING RAM under 1.5 doesnt work properly. You have to first LOAD the whole set in OS 1.51 then
RESAVE each drum kit separately then RESAVE the whole set again and then start loadin.
