Can you go back to the preset control knobs after editing?
After I use the "edit select" knobs to edit, say an arpeggiator sound, is there a way to exit out of that and go back so that the 5 control knobs control the preset parameters,cutoff/resonance,attack,release,tempo?

Turn either Edit Select knob (or press Shift+Side) to exit Arpeg edit mode. The Program Number lights now display the current program number.
Press the (lit) program number button and you should then be at the 'outer' level.
In general, whenever both Synth/Vocoder 1 & 2 lights are lit, the 5 knobs do what they say.
Moving Edit Select knob 1 lights up 1 only, and ditto for 2.
You can also quickly toggle between them by pressing Shift+Side instead of moving the Edit Select knobs.
At any time, pressing the current program number button (if not in arpeg display mode) will light up both leds so you can use the 5 knobs as before.
Hope that's not too long-winded an answer

Hi again Whirlweek, yes I also find the MK very cryptic; just wish it had more knobs. Putting a zillion functions on just 5 knobs seems a bit harsh on us 'users', although I suppose if they didn't do that we could never afford them
At the risk of yet another plug for my SyDs, this is one reason I drew them up in the first place. Having to go through the manual & the machine itself with a fine toothcomb to document every setting was a good way of learning what was possible (e.g. I'd forgotten about the Shift+Side toggle - I used to turn one of the Edit Select knobs right then left just to switch editing between the top to bottom sections - how daft is that?
).
You still need to have a flair for synth programming though; the SyDs don't give you that

Hey man! I used to do the same thing with the edit control knobs to switch parameters. It drove me nuts because I knew there had to be a way to change sides without moving the knob to trigger it. I went back and read through the manual and sure enough I had missed that section.
Is there a section in the manual that tells you how to exit out of the parameters because I looked though it a few times before writing the board here?

Well I've just had another look in the manual and can't find it so don't worry - there's just too much to plough through and life's too short
There are a few references to pressing Shift to Exit out of various modes, but can't find the one we're talking about.
Anyway, wherever the info came from, it's all summarised on the Main sheet in my microKORG SyD, just download them and print them out - the whole machine only uses 3 A4 sheets
Another useful one (for me anyway) is the Shift+Octave for fine +/- control over some values where the normal control is too coarse.
Phil.

They're in the Freebies section on www.philizound.co.uk - look for SyDs.
I've also uploaded them for approval to the Korg Download section on this forum but have not heard anything yet.
Cheers, Phil.
