Joystick Replacement on Pa80

Post by korg_nikos »

Hi to all great members.

After several years the joystick of my Pa80 needs replacement. I have already a brand new joystick (spare part already assembled) and i just need to open the pa80 case so as to replace it.

I have done the same to other korg keyboards i have like Triton Extreme and Trinity but as you probably know Pa80 is more complicated.

I tried to open it and i saw that both top and both covers should be removed. This is the first time i try to open the pa80 so i would like to have some advice from a user that has already done it.

What should i do in order to disassemble the covers safely? Are there any cables-wires that are attached to both covers at the same time? If yes that means that i should be very careful.

Is there a service manual or a guide that somebody could send me?

Thanks in advance

Hi Nikos, The Pa80 top and bottom covers have to come apart and while there are some wiring connections , if you are careful you will be able to seperate top from bottom enough to get at the Joystick. If you have to disconnect any wiring a good idea is to photograph with a digital camera so that you have a reference to the connections. Good Luck .Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply.

Do i have to remove anything in order to detach top from bottom? For example do i have to unscrew the two floppy drive screws and remove it?

Or should i better raise a bit the top cover and turn it to have access to the joystick? I am afraid that i may cause damage to wire connections or to the keyboard chassis if i pull hard the covers.

So that's whay i am asking if there is something important that i should notice.
