Variation Volumn Problem

I hooked up my M-Audio BX5a speakers to my PA1X and when changing variations on some styles the lead voice volumn increases dramatically. Is this common or is there a setup required to run external speakers. I have not experienced this with the styles I am using when playing through the built in speakers.

I have not changed any style volumns or EQs - don't know how to do that on this keyboard yet. I wanted to use the Korg on a gig but that won't happen until I find a cure for this issue.
