How to Program Korgs internal Memory (EPROM)
Hi Guys
I am trying to find a way to program PA800’s internal sounds (EPROM). What I mean is that we have a lots sound which come with PA800 and we never use them. If we can load our own sounds in the EPROM then we would not have to use the sampler memory and boot up will be much faster. You get the idea.
Nay help in this matter would be greatly appreviated.
Thanks

as far as i know, korg don't want you to do that, so, that's Y they call it ROM=read only memory..mrdave wrote:Hi Guys

Hi MrDave,
You can change the factory Sounds but you can't change the factory Samples. I don't recommend it though. For one thing you will screw up any Styles that rely on the factory Sounds. For another thing you will not be able to back up and restore your changes in the event of a future re-release of Korg Musical Resources (which updates the factory Styles and Sounds). It's far better to save any modified Sounds as new User Sounds, and then save them to individual .SET files to back them up from where you can Open them and load them to any User location again in future.

Hi Nedim
I think you are missing the point. We are talking about getting rid of some factory samples and putting our own. Nothing to do with performances and user sounds.
Q.E to your point we do reprogram the factory ROM each we have the recourse upgrade that’s why its called EPROM (erasable/ programmable read only memory).
I am sure there is a way to do this. There must be someone in this group with the smarts to figure this out and willing to share with others.
Thanks all for your insights. Please keep them coming and remember to keep an open mind.
Thanks

See, this is where you make no sense. You blast me for stating that the Pa2xpro is not the ideal instrument of choice for sampling; i.e. adding thousands of sounds to the keyboard, and then you make a silly statement like the one above ???? Why are you sampling sounds for your keyboard, are the 256 user sounds and 320 performances not enough????Nedim wrote:I just wanna understand how can people use more then 256 USER SOUNDS

Your contradicting yourself.

My view is that the HD or a Pen Drive is the place where the huge library of customized styles, user samples and sounds should be stored. Not the internal SSD/ flash eprom. I try to keep my library and keyboard configuration very simple - one folder for each individual SOUND, STYLE etc. I don't use huge .SET libray folders. I decide which sounds and styles I need for a particular weekend's playing, open the folders, load just those STYLES and SOUNDS that I need. I try to keep very little "autoloading" into PCM RAM each time I power up the keyboard.
I think it is a big mistake to replace factory styles or sounds (which is easy to do) or samples (which Korg make it impossible to do). Because it is very difficult to back up your changes in such a way that you can restore them again after an OS and MR upgrade. Also because it means that you may not be able to share styles and sounds with other users.
However, I do modify and overwrite factory performances to make "one touch" settings that are easy to recall when playing live. Performance settings are easy to back up and restore from HD after performing a factory OS and MR upgrade. Also it has no impact on the ability to share my songs, styles etc with other users.

Re: WAV AUDIO TO EPROM
As a DIY electronic doorbell project it makes sense. In the context of what you originally asked it makes no sense. It is not possible to alter the internal ROM samples that come with the Pa keyboards. But you can load your own samples to RAM.mrdave wrote:Take a look guys. See if this makes sense to you.
