PA1X Start/ Stop button

I have read many of the articles about the button breaking issue, but wondered what the current situation is.
The Start / Stop button on my PA1X has become loose , but still works. The plastic button is not broken, so I quess the "rubberised" spring or pressure pad under the button has failed.
Is this a DIY job, if you can get a part, or is it best sent to Korg.
All my other buttons and controls are fine and my PA1x is not heavily used.
Any info or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated

Hello riggers. If you are a HANDYMANN it is a DIY job. You have to replace the botton with a new one, because it is broken inside.
Yesterday I recived new start/stop bottons (ordered for over a month ago )

The description are for a Pa1X-Pro.

When you have the new one, it will be a good idea to have a helping hand to hold the KB in open Pos. Then you have to unscrew 48 screws (18 under /2 back and 28 inside). There are different size and types of those screws, so be carefully to notified the right one to the original pos. when you assemble the KB.
OBS: When you have the printboard free, you can easily shift the botton.
On the top of the botton there is a black plastic plate. You have to take it over to the new button.
There are (I mean) 6 black plastic spacers under some screws holding the printboard. Secure them with a little point of glue

The order no. of the botton is: KG-PLA0001148

There is another solution.....Use a foot switch to control the "start/stop"
function and other functions.Why use your hand when you need it to perform?
Use the Korg EC5 pedal or a generic foot pedal and aviod the problem of a "MALFUNCTIONING BUTTON DURING A LIVE GIG!"
I use the Korg EC5 and now my hands are free to play...my foot controls the functions.Its worth every penny......$95.00

Same thing happend to me a few weeks ago. Your stuck getting Korg to fix this unless you want to do the job yourself.

Why Korgt does not change the system of buttons on their keyboards?
In my pro-pa1x several buttons that do not work. The start / stop fix it with the pedals, but what I do with EXIT and other MENU? (for exemple)
I think Korg and we have a serious problem.
I wish to buy a PAX2, but I will not do so until Korg not change the system of buttons (albeit the PAX3 Or PAX4 ...)
The keyboard of my computer cost me 12 euros three years ago and operate all keys perfectly (my PA1X-PRO cost me 4,000 euros)

The problem can be corrected by replacing the gray button that you press. This requires opening up the entire keyboard and requries tools and some experience at working on electronic gear. The defect in the design is that the return spring and hinge is made of a thin fin of the same plastic that the button top is composed of. This type of hinge has a tragic history of rapid failure with repeated use.
I echo your observation that this was a design decision that Korg has failed miserably at. There is no excuse for this choice on their part. We all have an expectation that musical instruments have a very long life. In light of the fact that plastics dry out and become brittle without exception, this makes the KORG line a disposable line of products. Use them for a few years and then throw them out. They become useless to anyone else.

Hey Pauli.

I appreciate your idea, and I understand that this is a solution. I guess one could even use two or four such pedalsets to control lighting, smokemachine, trigger for the choire-girls or even signal the bartender to bring you a beer...but that is beside the point!!!

Why should we buy extra pedalset(s) to replace the functions that the PAX clearly was designed for and supposed to perform and execute???
