Step Sequencer for the padKONTROL! using native mode

Post by Dave604 »

please check my step sequencer for the korg padkontrol, it is a 128x1024 matrix atm 128 for pitch and 1024 for 1/16th
http://debreczeni.info/

max msp runtime and jitter required, but the full version of maxmsp is required to install jitter, so after the 30 day trial period it can be used with the max runtime
i will do an exported app to avoid the need of installing cycling`74 stuffs...
it`s made with mac intel os x max/msp/jitter 4.6.3, but should work backwards and on pc win & ppc os x too because it`s the source patch not an exported application as the covert ops squared patch, so if you plan to expand/modify it you can do with maxmsp
if you experience timing problems, try minimizing the max windows to the dock/taskbar, maybe turn on overdrive in max

please let me know what features you want and how and what you don`t: djooker [at] gmail {dot} com[/url]

Thanx for doing the pc version mate, just a quick question though....do i need to use max msp and jitter for pc or is this for mac only also?

If there's pc versions of this software then would it be possible to get a link to the proper product so i know i got the right one lol.

Thanx again :D

yes you need to install max/msp/jitter, runtime for running and the rfull version for modifying the program

unpack padKONTROL.zip then run with padkontrol_decode_xx.pat

padkontrol todo

Post by Dave604 »

I`ve done some update on the patch here is the todo list:
done:
drum mode(normal padkontrol mode):

drum mode through port b
ignore midi note cutting when not in setting mode(good for fast fills using the same pitch)

sequencer mode:

copy/paste patterns
proper matrix display window
clear/save/load all/pattern
reset all midi/panic button
proper lights initialization
cut longer midi notes with the same pitch
settings presets
notein comes from port midiin rather than part a sysex to reduce midi jitter
save/load/clear the whole sequence
x/y assign -> fx control (scalable vector mix 4 selectable cc`s)
knob assign -> selectable/scalable cc assign

padkontrol todo:
sequencer mode:

clear pattern button(undo clear pattern)
solo/mute to specific pitches
beat shuffling/juggling/repeating
swing
midi/rewire sync
independent midi channel pattern bank (+matrix pane)
solo/mute independent channels
different pitches on one "page" mode

drum mode:
separate output for drum mode
pitch setting
scenes/midi ch etc...
proper led display
knobs touch xy

not so important:
sequencer mode:

pad flashing refresh improvement
visualization improvement
proper pitch # display
option for scaling/fix velocity
fixed note-length option
midi cc/pb automation sequence
adjust "offset"/"patternlength" by one bar with [gate button + pads]

l8r:

standalone sampler/synth mode

kick ass dave, thanks. have had some problems with the new version though..

noticed you removed the switch for entering native mode and tha tit now is supposed to do so automatically when turned on. that represents a problem here because sometimes with the new version not only will it automatically enter native mode but it'll turn on the sequencer (roll) and then none of the buttons respond.

anyways, love your patch.. always looking forward to updates! :D

Great Sequencer Mate.. Very good work.
FYI I have this working on Vista and usin Live 7.

2 suggestions/ideas.

- It would be great if this could be rewired or set up to sync with software packages such as ableton.

- This is setup in a way that works well for a drum sequencer, where every note and display is an individual hit. An Alternate Synth sequencer mode would be great where a Pad turns a Note on or Off and then have controls to pitch the notes up and down. This will allow the entire pattern to be displayed in the 4x4 grid.

Once Again, great work

selthy: re #2, i asked the same thing awhile back and he was giving it some thought :)

dave: im a little cornfused about the the bank saving/loading. what exactly is it saving and are those stored in the pattern save to file feature?

thanks again man ! been rockin this since day 1 and feel like i can't show my appreciation enough :) it's come a long way... being able to switch back and forth to drumpad mode (aka intended use mode) while the sequence is still rolling, is very, very pimp.
