D1600: Squeal and Disk Busy message

Post by Solomoreno »

I just received my d1600 in the mail the other day (bought it on ebay). I was working on a song today, in 24 bit/8 track mode, and when I hit record, after a few seconds, a "Disk Busy" error message appeared on the screen. It suggested optimizing the track. So I did. Just as it says to do in the manual. Yet, this kept happening. I even erased all of the tracks and it was still doing it. Also, I noticed a high-pitched hum, a squeal, or something that sounds like low volume feedback, coming from the machine. It gets strongest right before the error message appears. It does not appear in my headphones, it's actually coming from the machine itself. Something tells me they are related, perhaps some sort of problem with the hard drive?

It does sound like the HD could be faulty.

Have a look here for detailed info,
