software to buy for my KORG padKONTROL?

Post by cjons »

Which software (should not be expensive since I am a beginner) should you recommend to buy for playing DRUMS on my padKONTROL?

I do not succeed with the software pack that came with the pK.

1. That is for instance (demo version of) Reason Adapted from Propellerheads (Licenece code did not work, I got a new CD from the sore but that new licence code did not work either).

dfh - as I wrote before, I tried to use it with Live Lite (demo version) but I only got some drum sounds on the "pads" in the SUPERIOR's software, not on the pK's pads.

There seems to be no end for my problems so please someone, what software (cheap and not too advanced) should you recommned me to buy? That must be some "complete" software, i.e to really be able to play drum samples on my pK! Not that I have to add anything more (that I won't know about) in order to get started.

It so frustrating since KORG says (on several places including YouTube) that you can get started just after taking the pK out of the box! I cannot!

Any help is helpful! :?

I would suggest contacting your Korg Country Distributor:
http://www.korg.co.jp/English/Distributors/index.html

EVERYTHING in the Korg Creative Kontrol pack should work. There are thousands of people using these "lite" products. Part of what you pay for when you buy any Korg product is Product Support. Each country Korg Distributor (you don't say where you live) should be able to help you get these products working.

I would focus on getting the Korg "light" products to work. The main "virtual drummer" programs on the market today are (and all are fairly expensive):
-- fXpansion BFD2 or Guru (depending on whether you want virtual drums [BFD] or something more like an AKAI MPC [Guru])
http://www.fxpansion.com/
-- Toontrack Superior Drummer 2 (not out yet) or dfz EZ drummer
http://www.toontrack.com/index.asp
-- Native Instruments Batttery 3
http://www.native-instruments.com/index ... c2a4ebc998

I would probably recommend either Toontrack EZdrummer or Battery 3 since these are pretty easy to use and are less expensive

I have the same issue as cjons in as much I have only got some pads in software to activate the SUPERIOR sounds. In Sonar6, the PK works ok when using the softsynth TTS-1 but whenever I try to get the good drum sounds I am unable to activate the "session drummer"
With the live lite Korg edition, I can get the pad to work ok with the virtual synths but when I install the demo from Toontracks it keeps on insisting on switching to "Demo mode" and the only pad that works is the "Kick drum" It does sound pretty good though.
I bought the PK essentially as drum controller but so far trying to get even the bundled demo's to give me some good drum sounds has eluded me. I have contacted Korg but it was late Friday and I have not had a reply yet. I was hoping to lay down some tracks over the weekend :(
