Voice Modelling activation key
Help!
I purchased a PA1X Pro from a friend who had purchased the voice modelling and pitch correction update and installed it.
I updated the operating system to v3.01 and after doing this the voice modelling has reverted to Demo mode. My friend does not have the activation key anymore and when I try on the korg site to enter the purchase code for the keyboard it says it has already been used.
How, where from and from who can I get the activation key???
Thanks Dave

Hi Dave
This is very strange as the OS does not affect the voice modeling and pitch correction data....
I recommend that you contact Korg and send them:-
1. A note explaining the situation
2. Serial number of your PA1XPro.
3. "voice modeling and pitch correction" request key originally sent by your friend
4. "voice modeling and pitch correction" request key currently displayed by your PA1XPro (if different to above)
5. The activation key response that was originally sent to your friend (if your friend cannot find this, you may have a problem)
6. Date and payment details of the "voice modeling and pitch correction" purchase by your friend
I am sure Korg will assist you provided they have all the original purchase details.
(Just a query - did YOU actually try and use the "voice modeling and pitch correction" BEFORE you upgraded the OS to 3.01 - i.e. are you 1000% sure it was fully working before your OS upgrade???)
Good luck
Pete

Hi karmathanever & dragoncaz.
I didn't actually in person use it but the guy I bought it off is a good friend so I know if he says it was working that it is so.
I updated the O/S pressing I think Intro 1 whih erases all user data. I did this because I wanted to start from a clean sheet so to speak whether this has also got rid of the activation key I dont know. I didnt format any drives dragonkaz.
I have now contacted korg as you suggested but all I could give them was my friends name and address and the purchase code displayed on the keyboard. They wanted the email address he used when he purchased the key but he has long since changed provider and email address. We have taken a guess at what it was though.
If I go and try to purchase the activation key again it says that the purchase code has already been used. So they must know that the activation key for that code has been purchased and issued. As each keyboard has unique purchase codes and activation codes then they must know that by issuing the key again to me it can only be used on theat specific keyboard.
Thanks Dave

Thanks people,
I'll let you know how I get on. The Korg tech guy didn't seem to think that upgrading the O/S would delete this data but he also didnt say that this data loss never happens rather he said that you rarely need the activation key again. Seems to me from that maybe it has happened to other people before. I have no idea if my friend has accidentally deleted something when he was deleting all his midifiles etc. But I don't think midifiles are stored on the SSD anyway are they?

Hi All, Yes if you upgrade (with the last 3 upgrades, and you use Intro button) it will delete the Voice Activation Code and you have to put the same number in again each time. No problem if you write down and keep safe the Number you receive from Korg. Should not be any problem though like you say Korg knows the activation code for that Keyboard has been paid. Korg never make things easy when asking for a bit of information, Hens Teeth as they say.

Hi All
Still no luck with the key. The tech guy at Korg says he is still waiting for it from the administration site. Didnt think emailing a key back would take this long. It only took my mate a few minutes to receive it when he originally bought the upgrade!
Such is life. I will just have to be patient. But as it was caused by Korg's own upgrade you would think an attatched warning on the update as to this loss of the key when using the update and pressing "Intro1"would be appropriate.
Cheers Dave

Hi again, I used to have my own business, and the Customer was (nearly) always right, well if I knew he was right I would bend over backwards to help my customer. In this case KORG knows the owner of this Keyboard is right -- WHY DO THEY BEND OVER BACKWARDS IN NOT SENDING HIM AN E-MAIL WITH THE CODE NUMBER.

Activation Key
Hi
Just a warning for anyone updating their PA1X to os 3.1
Make sure you have your activation code to hand if you press intro1
to reset things as I did.
I always keep keys and data like this but my friend from whom I bought the keyboard does not. Although as he was under the impression the update was permanent then logically why would he have kept the key?
We know now

ACTIVATION KEY
Hi Dave.
Good to know that Korg sorted you out with the key & that all is now well.
On the assumption that others will suffer from the same issue, and to cover the situation like yours where someone buys a used PA which has already been activated, but the activation key number has not been preserved by the previous owner, is it possible to make the instrument display it's activation key number on screen?
If this can be done, and anyone knows how to do it, please advise - as this will make it possible to note down the information before it is lost due to a later SSD format.
I am considering buying a used PA1X myself at some time, and would be on the lookout for one which has already been activated. Being able to retrieve the key via the instrument itself would make me more confident about paying the owner a premium for this upgrade, even if he has lost the original purchase data.
This is important as most musos are notoriously unreliable about keeping paperwork at the best of times. Also, PA1Xs have been around for a few years now so many will already be on their second or third owners by this stage, and the likelyhood of the activation data staying with the instrument reduces with each change of ownership.
Regards - Mike

Hi all, I have not been able to find a way to display the activation code from the keyboard, But I would not be holding my breath waiting for Korg to tell its customers if and how it could be done. Well we'll see how long it takes Korg to answer this one. Another small point THIS WEBSITE BACKS UP KORG --- INSTANTLY ---. A couple of years ago some-one tried to advertise on this site that they had codebreaking software and would supply anyone with the Activation code number for a VERY small fee, One of the moderators Sharp I think had it removed in minutes, thereby proving to Korg that the people who use and run this site are 100% in looking after Korgs interests, and I like that very much. But Korgs after SNAILS sorry SALES service leaves me greatly disapointed. If it was not for this site I'm pretty sure I would have sold my PX1 a long time ago.
