Hi all
Really need your help on this. I'm new to this softsyth world and need to get in. I have a 61 keyboard with midi jacks and usb , I want to use soft synths possibly free ones with nice pianos , strings , organs, horns, drums that sort a thing. Just want to pull sounds and use the keyboards sequencer to sequence and also play live . Have a laptop as well.
Can u tell me excatly which will work for me, and if i will need anything else to make this possible?
thanx much

A few things off the top of my head.
1. Your laptop processor should be fairly current and fast.
2. Your hard drive should be fairly large
3. You'll need a decent soundcard (probably not the tock one with your Laptop)
4. At least one gig, preferably two gigs of memory
5. A firewire drive would be nice
6. Proper configuration for your laptop.
There are many bread and butter type softsynths. My favorite is Colossus. Many people like Reason. Listen to the demos on their websites and choose what's best for you.

And there was this one time at band camp......
for good free electric pianos you might want to check www.soundfont.it wich have some nice free keys vsti.
For strings brass pianos aso Im afraid you'll have to get a sampler like halion or kontakt or a rompler like Sonik Synth + in each case the relevant libraries.
Hope this helps
