XMS 02 organ board contra Hammond XM2 modul

Post by Flemming M »

Hi. Have anyone here try to test the organ sound and playing from the xprodata xms-2 organ expandboard contra a the Hammond XM-2 soundmodul. In DK there is a used Hammond organmodul with the drawbar kit for sale. But this is still more expensiv than the organ ex board from xprodata.
What is the best solution ?
Sorry my bad Danish/English but I like my PA2xPRO :-)

Yes - it is very good.

It is a great solution if you do not want to buy another keyboard (e.g. like CX3).
The sounds make very clever use of the joystick creating a very authentic Leslie effect.

Detlef (KF member "wittid") would certainly be able to answer any detailed questions you may have.

Cheers

Hi Cheer. What do you meen ? That the XMS-2 organ board from Xprodata is the best - cheaper solution than the Hammond 19" Rack mounting organ modul ?

Hi again

No, the XMS-2 board does not replace a Hammond XM2 module but then the module is over twice the cost. I think you must really decide if the XMS2 board will give you all the Organ sounds you need. The XProdata website has a lot of MP3 demos from this board - really worth listening to - also bear in mind that the XMS2 board has more than just Hammond organ sounds - Lowrey. Wersi......

Other things to weigh up -
1. Convenience of internal board versus "an additional piece of gear"
2. MIDI setup simplicity for the Hammond Module (i.e. how are you going to use it - e.g. driven by UPPER 1 or full keybaord etc...)
3. Cost
4. Hammond drawbar registrations you need and level of Leslie emulation control - you should review both options
5. What if you eventually replace your PA1XPro keyboard...etc...

The XMS2 board is very good - has some excellent samples and XProdata guys include very usable SOUND configurations for it.

All the best...

Cheers

I borgt the XMS-02 organ board last year ( and the xms-01 entertainer board) I'am very satisfite with these. There is only one problem : The polyfonies. The great drum sound take a lot of the polyfinies. And if you use one of the real fine Lord organs from the XMS-02 organ board it gives problem.
What do you do ? I have consid too buy the PA2xPRO but whom will buy me good PA1xPRO ?
What sound modul would be useful - if is these way is have too go.
