padKontrol questions (sorry if i'm being stupid)

Post by harryburgess99 »

Sorry to bother you, but i am going to buy some form of drum-pad-control-trigger type system this week and padKontrol looks great but i have some questions.

1. What does the setup look like? pK straight to PC via USB? When does midi/ a midi cable get involved?

2. What's the software it comes with like for drum samples? I'm looking into making some electronica with my band- mainly live performance...would the stuff it comes with be suitable?

3. Can you make samples or musical loops to be triggered on each pad (e.g. a bass-line on one pad for 16-seconds and a beat on another for 16-seconds)? Can you loop a pad so you don't have to hold it the whole time?
What software can be used to make these loop samples? Cause song-wise it'd be cool to be able to trigger a bass loop, then maybe actually tap a beat over that in real time.

I have probably got alot of terminology wrong, i'm better once i'm on the PC but I can't seem to translate it into coherent speech!

Sorry for all the questions, and i appreciate if you don't have the time to answer them- but it would definitely help a confused musician out!

Thanks alot

Harry

1 you would either use usb or midi to connect.
2 most the software is dem or lite version (watered down)
3 Check out ableton as your DAW, it can do everything and more.

there are alot of other software suites that can do alot of the things you want. you will just have to do a bit of research on how you want to approach creating music.

hope htis helps
