CUE when you have all channels of ZERO 8 unit, under Midi mode
Its usual ZERO8 mixer be used with ableton, and user prefer setup all channels to MIDI for better control of ableton (can be any other software)
This mode make imposible to CUE tracks in ableton, the only way to fix this situation righ now is loose one channel for use that channel like CUE channel.
Just setup in ableton the CUE output to channel 8 firewire sound card (chan 15/16), then in zero 8 mixer setup channel 8 like AUDIO.
Now just map the CUE MIDI BUTTONS to cue option in ableton.
The negative point of this workaround: you loose the channel 8 for use with ableton
The positive point of this workaround: you can increase the low level of the HEADPHONE OUTPUT in ZERO 8

How not loose ZERO FX SEND when use all channels on MIDI mode
Prerequisite of this workaround is setup chanell 8 like CUE channel.
When turn ZERO 8 channel to MIDI mode, the channel effect not loosed, so you can continue making usage of the channel effect, but ZERO FX SEND effect is loosed in any channel working on MIDI mode.
Now i explain workaround can be usefull for not loose after all the ZERO FX SEND effect.
Imagine this setup, 7 channels (or less) of zero 8 unit configured under MIDI mode, so you cant cue, for that reason you setup the channel 8 like cue channel like i explained at the beginning of this post.
OK , make click on SETUP buton of your Zero 8 and then in the LCD panel select SYSTEM then SEND SETUP , then select ZERO FX, now select channel 8 to PRE, then push the SETUP button for save this change.
Now press button ZERO FX SEND , select any effect you want.
For apply effect to any MIDI channel, just press CUE button of that MIDI channel, audio is routed to channel 8 of your zero 8 mixer, for activate the effect just need open the KNOB ZERO FX SEND of chanell 8 to send what you CUE to the ZERO FX effect.
You not need open the fader of chanell 8, ZERO FX SEND knob is now configured to act PRE fader.......
Positive of this workaround: this simple way make you not loose the send effects when turn channels in MIDI mode.
Negative: you cant apply effect and cue diferent channel at same time.

Re: Workarounds for ZERO 8
nice.. good idea to post "workround" as it seems we need to deal like that..
In ableton live set your 7 audio tracks to "sends only", then map a nob on each zero track to the send A and the same nob to send B with inverted polarity.
now when you ll turn the nob on zero, the track in live will be routed to send A or B with a crossfade in between depending on the pos of the nob.
route the output of send A "NO FX" to channel 11-12 and send B "FX" to 13-14.
so normally if you send a track to B it will go to the chan7. set this chanel to audio and set up the send FX and desactivate the cue.. if you send to A, it's goes to chan6. set it to audio and drop down send FX, no cue. go to the master section .now route the master from ableton to 1-2 and the cue to 15-16.like the first setup, set to audio, cue activated. set your cue midi mappings. Once you did that you can reswitch chan 6 and 7 to midi mode keep the 8 in audio as cueing channel.
now you should be able to choose with a midi knob on each track if it 's send fx processed or not, and cue with the midi cue as before.
I need to check it but im quite sure i already did that..if not ill erase this post
positive: cue and apply fx differents tracks in midi mode.
negative live special routing that could be boring in some cases.
oops , checked and it works, but i found an incoming bug: as soon as i move the crossfader audio goes out!! arf it seems that the zero keep the audio settings in audio when going to midi mode but with bugz like that.
s**t unit... even workarounds need workarounds/
I thought about a routing sheme to achieve this:Dj-Grobe wrote:CUE when you have all channels of ZERO 8 unit, under Midi mode
