Ok , so its not really .. but if you hav a Sony PSP then this should be the perfect sketchpad .

If u own a psp click :
http://www.psprhythm.com/music.shtml

The installer for PSP Rythm 7.1 can be downloaded from this page .
It lets u put ur own samples in to be messed with , so i guess you could put emx and esx or any other sound into it .

it takes a little getting used to but i think its great and has some good potential .

It feels like fruityloops kinda , but an early version . The interface is just as good as any vst tho ... just slightly fiddly to work out at first .
Give it a go guys  , there are plenty sample kits to download if u hav none

just spent the last couple of hours messin with my own samples and jungle breaks , and i can tell u that this software is excellant and definatly the best free software ive ever found .

After a fair bit of use ive come to find it kinda like rebirth / reason within its sequencing interface .. although theres only a 303 synth .

Song files can also be output to wav or midi . Ive waited a long time for somthing like this and expected dissapointment , but in reality im pretty impressed .

If u dont hav a psp i suggest you get one , this is definatly a piece of software to keep an eye on for future developments .

Right , im off to get more mx material to mess around with at work .. woooo

damnnn
this looks sweeet
right when i was gonna trade it for a ds to get the korg ds-10

questions though

how much memory does this need??

what do you do if u have the psp firmware tooo updated (needed to for a game)?

and just how good are the sounds?? Is this the kinda thing where my emx and the psp can have sound babies?

I'll be honest and say that the 303 synth is s**t .. but some of the sound sasmples are pretty good and the machine copes well with alot of samples being played simultaniously.

i simply make bits n pieces on my mx , record it to a file then chop and save files to folders on my psp mem card ( 1gb ) .
its more of a sequencer/arranger but it does have a songmode thats programmed in similar fashion to the mx songmode.

it a great tool for re-arranging and generaly a really graet way to lay down ideas or make tunes out of sliced/timestreched/pitched samples , with a basic filter and delay .

It really does feel like a cut-down fl studio , almost like fruity 1.0 .

p.s i hav the latest firmware and hav no problems

Its free which is the cool thing

Check out Bhajis Loops and Microbe for the Palm line of handhelds, very cool software sort of similar to Fruity Loops and Rebirth respectively. Great developer too.

I can't wait to see if any decent music apps are coming for the iPhone in June. Just something to compose a melody on the go would be so handy for me.

I use bhajis loops on my palm. You can load all the samples that you work with in your esx onto an sd card and create drum loops or tones (you can also load wavetables and use the draw tool to create new ones) that can be exported back to sd card and ultimately back on the esx. That's how I get alot of the sounds I've been working with lately.

That'd make the iPhone MUCH more interesting than what I think it is now! And some good news; TeliaSonera have written a contract with Apple, so it'll be here in Sweden any time soon. :D

I don't know...Check out these songs that where made with just a sony pda and bhajis loops software.

This guy has 5 other releases that are all done with the a sony handheld and bhahis loops software here:

http://www.chocopoolp.com/go_songs.php#cuts

I like bhajis loops, it is like an ESX but smaller.

and here is a youtube video of microbe (another app from the same developer) and bhajis. The song is kind of weak but you can see how both programs work.

and here is a bhajis tutorial on youtube:
