Suggestion for new functions

Post by claydodo »

I wonder if Korg can add some new functions to improve TR's live performance.

1. Switching on/off of timbres with F1-F8 key in Combi mode. This can be realized by switching the status of each timbre, between INT and OFF. This won't affect the PCG file structure at all, so should not be difficult to realize.

2. Add a switch to make it possible for user to decide when changing between Combies, the previous played notes can be maintained or not. If this can be done, we can hold some notes and change the combi and the previous note won't be cut off. And the arp shall be maintained as well sometimes.

These functions won't affect the original TR file formats, only need to re-program the OS. I wonder if Korg would accept our suggestions...

I doubt it. They don't even have Feature Request page on their website. But once we started... My wishes:

Solo selected OSC in the Program mode (just like solo selected part in the Multi and Seq);

Favorite Bank, where you can collect Programs and Combis and recall them with one button push.
If it ain't broken, don't fix it!

Yes, solo the osc!! That would be much easier for us to edit the osc.

i'm still reeling from the fact that the triton le doesn't have a favourites function that allows user to recall progs/combis at the push of a button!

isn't this a really basic essential?

seriously ): are there other ways to get around this problem? how do you guys change patches quickly? especially for more demanding numbers that need a lot more programmes and combinations?

please do share if you somehow find a way to bank in favourites on the triton le... thanks!

My solution for "favorite patches" is using the Combi mode. I make my favorite programs into individual combies. And when performancing, I re-arrange these combies into another bank in the performance order and then switch between them with [inc]/[dec] buttons, or a foot switch, or sometimes single numeric buttons with the help of "10's hold" function.

I would quite like to see a transpose mode for the fixed-note arps. this would basically turn them into radias-style polystep sequencers or such. which would be really useful..

oh and some kind of multitimbral pattern/section system in the sequencer to trigger song sections on the fly, for live performance.

on the subject of fast patch changes, I basically do what claydodo does, except I like my combis as they are, so I use sequencer mode, make a different song for each subsequent sound I use, and then make different files for each song.
then you can just step through your sounds using the 'inc' and 'dec' buttons. unfortunately pedal shift doesnt work in song mode. actually consider that another feature request!

I also use about 3 different keyboards which trigger different sounds on the TR from the seq mode. much better than splits.
