Just my two cents here:
You can load synth samples into the ESX and of course use the keyboard to sound them...the latest copy of Future Music had some cool synth samples (UK version).
Sorry if you knew that already.
He had alota nothing to say, we'll miss him.

if you like dnb get the esx. you will get tired of the samples for the drums. not many of them are good for dnb to begin with.

im in the esx camp.. if u want more synth parts it only takes a few seconds to resample a part and drop it on one of the 4 available spots for stretch/slice. ive no interest at all in the emx really.. if it were polyphonic and had more power behind its drum parts i would, but it isn't and doesn't.
i have a esx, coupled with a mobius sequencer and a emu mp-7, both of which i slave to the esx and control other synths with. the esx is a powerful sampling drum machine.. which is mainly why i got it.

They are both awesome machines. Yeah the MX is limited but so is a 303 and as for the drums being limited, so is a 909 or an 808! I'm not saying the MX is as good as those cos i haven't used them but with better tubes it sounds fantastic, particularly the synth. Awesome basses. :)

If you can get both. The MX is, as reddone said, a modern classic. So much potential, don't be put off by it's toyish interface.

Peace.

Like a science kit for sounds and noise in a musical, song-like performance-oriented context ... It must be a toy, 'cause that's about as fun as it gets ... !!!
