Korg TR Sampling question

Post by quicksilverp3 »

So I've been reading the forums, and before I go super in depth in reading the manual, I wanted to know if converting any .wav file to a ksf file has any special requirements of that actual wave file... like being in mono/stereo, 8 bit/16-bit. And is there a loss of quality once the conversion is done.

Also, I'll pretty much be using the TR for only one shot samples so multisampling isn't required, would you say the TR without getting the EXB-SMPL is worth it (meaning I can only use the built-in sampling capability using converted KSF files).

Last question, if I needed to map, for example, 6 different waves (or in my case 6 converted KSF files) to 6 different keys on the keyboard, and then have those same 6 keys be played in a combination with other programs, is this easy to do? How are those 6 keys saved? Are they separate programs for each key, or can you save those 6 keys as one program?

Thanks in advance for your help.

1. I don't know about the requirement of .wav file, either. But it seems that the common wav files works ok on TR. Mono and Stereo wav file are both OK, and stereo wav will be converted into 2 ksf files automatically.

2. Maybe a good software will do most works of the EXB-SMPL card. I'm using "Awave Studio". It's awesome.

3. Plan A: with single samples, you can edit a user drum kit and then make a drum program with the kit. This may be troublesome. And there might be a problem when loading the single samples again: the order of samples may be shuffled.

Plan B: make a multisample with Awave Studio, and then make a normal program using this multisample.

Ohh... Plan B sounds better.

How would I go about doing that? Is it simple using the editor?

That software operates very simple. It may be more user-friendly than it looks.
