Korg Micro X Midi Out port weak voltage... Korg support...

Post by ak »

Hi,

I am having problem while using the Micro X midi out port. It does not provide enough current to work with my other midi controllers. The midi standard states that Midi out should send 5v and the micro x is only sending 3.20v. Any one from Korg can help solving this issue?

I hope that the team support from Korg can address this issue and solve it.

Thanks

I suggest you contact Korg directly about this issue as this could be a simple warranty matter :)

Hmm...

When You measure 3.20, is that with an oscilloscope? A normal multimeter will not show the correct voltage, since MIDI is 5V pulses!

OK, You say it won't work: Very long MIDI cables? All cables OK and with no short circuits at all? (I'll asume You have clean connectors and such).

I have no trouble using the uX with MIDI. I'll guess the different equipment is setup properly, so my suggestion is to get the uX at a service repair, since it sounds like bad optocouplers or simply a malfunction.

Claus,

I took my Micro x to a Korg authorized center and by design the Micro X midi_out_port is 3.30v pulse.

The Midi_Out_Port is not 5v and some Midi devices might not work with the Micro X.

I guess it is what it is... :( :(

MIDI Port.

OK, Yes that's weird they go under spec.. :-/

You could solve it with a couple of good MIDI thru boxes IF they accept the KORGs 3.3V. The thru box SHOULD be able to put out 5V for the 3.3 comming in.

Even my old VFX-SD1 works with the uX. What equipment don't work for You?
