'Fall' and 'not/knot'--both still rough mixes
www.myspace.com/fierlionmusic
I'm only using two synths on this entire album--my RADIAS and my MOOG Little Phatty. See if you can hear which is which.
'Fall is using some patches that I created after The Knife's album Deep Cuts then I turned on the arp and gated the freakin' life out of them, there's a weird little squeal over the choruses that uses the comb filter with its cutoff modulated by one of the sequencers.
not/knot uses three instances of a sawtooth lead I created trying to sound like an electric guitar. I love the Black Cabinet.
I've been away from the forums for a while working hard on music. It's nice to actually have something to show for it. Hopefully I'll have my album done by the end of August!

first let me congratulate you on your new album WOOHOOO - that's the feeling
i have listened to your great songs several times and the more i listen to it the more i find little constructive details and love it , of course i already know "Transit" which is a known pulsating piece created by you.
it's a great production, i love the vocals and even the autotune on the vocals in "Fall"(although i'm not an aututune fan), i love the analog string section in "NotKnot" - great orchestration, i love the harsh sounds laying beside the soft strings and piano sounds, nice use of the L\R, nice use of arps and mod's i can clearly notice it
thanks for sharing and good luck

Hey Botega! You have been one super busy poster! thanks for the super review--it's good for us musicians to throw compliments at each other. PS your new studio is INSANE. I am one sincerely jealous boy.botega wrote:hellow Fierlion

I remembered your estampes the other day while listening to William Orbit's pieces in a modern style. When is YOUR album coming out?

Hey Wan--I like that you can't tell where the RADIAS ends and the Little Phatty begins. I've seen a lot of discussion here about the RADIAS sounding super digital. I agree with that--but that's what I love about it! The LP and RADIAS compliment each other nicely because they fill in each other's holes, and strangely enough seem to melt right in one with the other. The RADIAS's digital sparkle in the high end is anchored by the LP's ultra warm mids and lows. Thanks for the compliments.

thanks rptr! I've got one patch with three timbres running through a severely gated arpeggiator--that runs through the entire track but fades in and out/side to side in the stereo spread. There's also a 'squack' patch under the chorus that has several timbres with varied amp envelopes. The pad near the end is a simple swell that I sent into logic pro, thickened up and gated. So that's three patches--in live performance I'll only use the first two and just trigger a .wav file of that last gated pad via Ableton Live. It's easy enough to fade the arpeggiated patch out with a foot control, switch programs to play the chorus squacks then flip back to the arpeggiator and fade it back in.rptr wrote:are you using the same radias program throughout the whole song? no way...
if not, how do you plan on playing live?
if so... how did you do it???
i absolutely LOVE fall! great track.
