one quick question about the TR
The Tr supports supports more than 1 simultaneous channel Right? Because im thinking of getting a controller.
Say what?
MIDI channel?
Audio outputs?
For what purpose?
You're question is a little vague.
Sorry.

I have three controllers merged onto my TR (one of them a 2 manual organ controller). I have a similar setup with the radias too. Idea is any of us on stage can control any sound from any unit depending on which part they're supposed to be playing, regardless of who owns which keyboards.
you can effictively turn the TR into a multitimbral sound engine.
its all just a matter of careful MIDI setup.
the best way to use it I would recommend is with the sequencer mode, allthough the combi mode will behave slightly differently it will be a great help.

If their are any tips some one can give me a highly appreciate them.X-Trade wrote:I have three controllers merged onto my TR (one of them a 2 manual organ controller). one thing a controllers is it is very expensive to find one with aftertouch. I ended up buying a used K1 MKII. Typically I'd assume you wouldn't be using many realtime controllers on a TR, but I could be mistaken,.
furthermore, unless your happy to change your TR's master channel, avoid those Carillion keyboards - they don't remember knob or channel settings. I had one for about a month, before I traded it in for the K1, having to hit combinations of keys to change settings was hard enough, without having to change knobs and channel every power on. The documentation was also rubbish. IMO the Evolution keyboards are good (have they changed name now?), but there are plenty of others around with a good series of controls. I had my heart set on the CME but they're too expensive, but I think would be great to go along with the TR (you could use the faders to fade in and out different channels, aftertouch, etc).
at least one controller can be handy, to assign to cc#2 (js -y), or if you're lucky, two mod wheels, or even an actual joystick. (Maybe KORG should make a triton series controller?)
As far as I am aware, there are differences between combi mode and sequencer mode, with regards to external MIDI signals. Once I get all my gear set up I will look at this because I have always been using SEQ.
quite simply, if you want one or two sounds on the TR (which lets assume is channel 1 by default), and your controller is set to CH2:
- go to sequencer mode
- set program for T1 to be piano
- set program for T2 to be strings
- set program for T3 to be organ
- set T1 CH1 and set to INT
- set T2 CH1 and set to INT
- set T3 CH2 and set to INT
you can also velocity split, keysplit, etc, just as normal.
actually, I think that will work on combi mode too.
if you set to EXT, it will transmit on that channel, if you set to INT it will recieve on that channel. I think.
it could be quite easy to, for example, change the velosplit upper/lower organ to react on two different keyboards like with the real deal.
remember though that you will have to compromise on your FX routing.
