any powered monitor manufacturer will tell you that the worst stage in the chain in which to make up levels is the monitor stage. this is because each analogue stage, no matter how professional, adds noise. if each stage is not at its maximum signal-to-noise ratio, high level noise coming through the monitors is the result. read the manual that came with your monitors if you disagree.

also, if i turn my monitors up, i will hear the hiss that the cables are picking up from nearby outlets and electronics as well as hiss randomly picked up from the atmosphere. this is hardly a rigorous test of noise on the part of the zero8.

i will do further testing to prove again to myself what i am saying, but as far as i can tell, at the moment, i am using a hiss free mixer.

I own an old mackie cr16 and I ve tested both togeteher matching output levels to a 10 kw soud system:

If you run loud music you wont hear the noise. But when you need to turn volume down, THE 6 YEARS OLD ANALOG MACKIE has less noise than A NUMERIC (WITH NO analog INPUT, in FW!) 2008 KORG ZERO, so you can prove yourself what u want, I personnally have the proof that the zero (at lest mine) is anormaly noisy. Even a chep Behringer Fx12 is less noisy.
also you speak about the cables, but when we use the Zero in FW mode, there is no cable, .... but there is the noise !!!

be more specific

when what is up loud?

if the hissing increases with the main volume then its not the board its what you are putting into it

ive been considering buying one of these but now I am extreemely cautious....... especially due to the mixed info from korg.....
I cant believe that these are as expensive as they are after well over a year of release, and the multitude of problems.....

I updated mine to version 1.6 but still noisy?

the only workaround is running it hot till it's ready to clip and add a preamp,
what a shame

I m fed up with korg lack of information. We could maybe make an online petition and s**t on korg all over the net , we did so as customer with tc electronic and it gaves results, they finally told us an answer?
Are we many here ready to lauch a petition and web attack? we shouldn't be like sheeps and start real actions!

cool eprhom, we are at least 2!! but we need to be a lot and motivated people. On tc electronic petition (a plug was buggy till 5 years) we got 180 signatures, we posted bad reviews all over the net on every audio forum at the same time, and that made buzz, we should make same for the zero, after more than one year still no descent updates, and no issues fix, and the worst not at little word from korg ghost fellows... please everybody keep this thread active, I will start to prepare a petition text and post here.
They don't want to listen/answer us? ok we're gonna ruin korg's reputation.

you're not alone!
start the engine, other will follow!

could be great to join a collective reclam text made by zero8 users with the text petition. We could collect all updates we need, but only for the build mistakes i think, (like hiss, vu-meters, cue in live mode, level phones, in and out on the same track etc...etc....)

well done mate!!
