A little demo to share

Post by Sharp »

Hi all.

A long time ago you might remember that I sequenced the theme tune to Forest Gump when I first got my Triton Studio. Well, I felt like sequencing it again today on my OASYS.

Hope you enjoy it. It's a lovely little melody.

I'm not clear on this. When you say sequenced on the Oasys, are you using the Oasys sequencer only? with no other software;hardare?

Are you using Karo for the strings or what's in the O box.

That was great, light years better than the stuff that comes out of my O. What programs are you using?

Hi newguy.
I'm not clear on this. When you say sequenced on the Oasys, are you using the Oasys sequencer only? with no other software;hardare?
I'm curious why you would ask as if it was hard to believe the OASYS could do this ?. :-)
Yes, this was sequenced completely on the OASYS, no external software or hardware was used.
Are you using Karo for the strings or what's in the O box.
I'm a very fussy guy when it comes to strings, so I used 3 factory strings sound passed through 3 different types of O-Verb IFX's.

The reason being that I can have 1 strings sounds doing the main chords with an O-Verb opened up very wide (long release), and the others that focus on the melody will have more of a closed O-Verb to them (shorter reverb with dampening ). This allows me to get a very wide stereo sound with the open chords and clearly defined notes with the shorter reverb.
That was great, light years better than the stuff that comes out of my O. What programs are you using?
Thank you, but you could easily do this. This tune was dead simple to sequence. It's just a matter of getting the right balance, and using the effects right. The sounds are already in your OASYS.

Other sounds used where....
Clarinet (Factory)
Trombone (EXs-3)
French Horns (EXs-3)
Oboe (Factory)
English Horn (Factory)
Piano ( OASYS Assault ) - Not yet released.
Synth Bell (AL-1)
Percussion (Factory)
Synth Harp (STR-1)

Kind Regards.
Sharp.

Thanks for the detailed follow-up. With your guidelines, I am going to try to create something similar and see how far I get.

And like many of us, I am awaiting the release of your programs. Just tell me where to send the check.

thanks again.

Hey, thats beutiful:), the bit were the strings come in just over half way (1:27) through sound just like the film Contact were Jodie foster was looking at the huge telescope at the beginning of the film. Not deen forrest Gump so never actually heard this. Sounds very pro, must say...

Thanks

Seeing the question about step sequencing starting me thinking...
It would be great if you could do a quick step by step how to guide on your creation, detailing your procedure. I think this would be a great post that people would reference many times in the future.
I have found the O sequencer to be too cumbersome to create complicated works and frequently end up frustrated or deciding to take an easy path to a simple arrangement when I really want to build things better.
While Mike's video touches on this, it didn't go far enough for me and I haven't seen anything else on the forums that outline the process from idea to successful recording.

Thanks.
