hook midi out of MMT to midi in on Radias....
Turn midi ECHO on with the MMT
Turn Local off on Radias....
the MMT will record all data you send it unless you filter it..
each track can record multiple midi channels.....
you can set it to record freestyle(eg.very long pattern no quantization) or like a step seq(eg. pattern length 4 bars/8th note quantization)
an external metronome will cue you..you addnotes by playing along with the loops.....you erase those notes by holding erase and playing the same note as it comes around in the pattern again...
Using the settings I gave you will monitor exactly how it will be on playback from the sequencer....

Re: midi leads to use between MMT8 and Radias
2 midi connecters should do for data, and 2x 1/4 inch from Radias output to your Mixer....I say mixer if you are using the Drum sounds on the Alesis as well....colinf wrote:![]()

You have a possible need of 6 leads to the mixer and from there to whatever you have on your amp....

Radias MIDI connections through MMT8 and HR16

not sure what I am doing here, I have two 1/4 inch jack leads from the Radias to the two inputs of my Beringer amp/speaker.
I want to connect the HR16 to the MMT8 and include the Radias using MIDI leads.
so i can play the radias add to the sequencer ( mmt8) and play / store the drum part from the HR16.
I CANNOT FIGURE THIS OUT WHAT LEAD GOES WHERE AND IF I WILL HEAR ALL THREE ELEMENTS HERE, ie, the drum, the sequencer , the radias.
any help .
thnaks

With 2 1/4" leads connecting your Radias to your mixer, the only "sounds" you will hear will come from the radias...colinf wrote:![]()

The HR 16 has Drum sounds internaly...but if you are using this just to trigger the radias drum sounds, then 2 leads to the radias is enough...
Assuming you have the "Radias Keyboard"
Radias Midi OUT----MMT Midi IN (to record Radias keys and modulations played)
MMT Midi OUT-----HR 16 Midi IN (to syncronise drums and seq)
HR16.... MIDI ECHO ON
HR16 Midi OUT-----Radias Midi IN
The MMT has a built in Speaker for Metronome Click which can turn off or on...I suggest you read under the lids of both Alesis units for sequencing modes...
I suggest you give the MMT the Master Clock source(internal)unless you are wanting the Radias SEQ clock to control all tempo...
The HR 16(internal/MIDI)
Do not set Either alesis units to EXT sync unless you have striped some TAPE with FSK code and use the Tape Jacks...
Set the Radias clock to detect clock mode
If you are hearing doubled notes, turn "local off" on the Radias
The one fall back with the Alesis Midi, is its syncronization to multitrack recorder....
Alesis does not follow SMPTE,......it follows FSK....
If the FSK drops out......for more than 3 seconds, the Sequencer will park to restart from the top....
If you role ahead to 3 minutes to pick up a part on Tape....
Dont expect the Alesis to recognise the new start time at 3 minutes...
it will play from the top completely out of whack with the Tape position....
which means on Mix down, with Automation consoles, your final mix will need to start at the top and play thru to the end.....
