microkorg sounds

Post by digitally »

Just got my self a MK and still trying to figure out the machine ... it's one phat full on machine with amazing capabilities. Programming patches is pretty simple.

but been wondering for years now how to get the benny benassi baseline. been trying on the KM but cant seem to figure it out. anyone with any sort of help???? would be appreciated.

Also, instead of getting a talkbox and attach it to the MK is it not possible to just programme a patch which sounds similar to the talkbox, on the MK vocoder itself. dunno, just wondering.

thanks in advance..

I also would also like to know this. Putting tubes in my mouth grosses me out.

cant help u out with the benassi bass lines
you just need to keep tryin
worse comes worse just look for a simialar patch and alter it

however about the talkbox like vocoder

i suggest u get a regular microphone with an unbalanced output converter and use that on the mk rather than the crappy gooseneck

from there just use side B patch 2 on the vocoder bank and distort the patch and u get a decent distorted voice!

Not a vocoder user myself, but as far as the bassline goes.....

Single oscillator, set to saw wave, envelopes ---- no attack, no release, lots of sustain, and decay to suit.

To fatten up the sound try a saw wave on the 2nd Oscillator, detuned maybe by -6 to -8. Don't have the volume level of the 2nd osc set so high in the mixer.

Try experimenting with different filters on the sound. A high pass will give you some interesting sweeps when you fiddle with the cut off freq.

Keep it simple, so no effects or delays. Might be worth messing about with the EQ though.

Hope that gives you a starting point :)

BatterieslikeBullets..... you were right about the distortion bit... makes it a lot like the talkbox... thanks mate... cheers. anyway i'm using the gooseneck as off now... it's simply more portable and is designed for MK, so I'll go with that... anyway thanks for the input.

Check out You Tube as there are a couple of videos that show how to program your MK to sound like a talk box.

He has also posted his settings at:

I am pretty sure these are how to use a talkbox with a microkorg and not how to sound like a talkbox.

My apologies, after another review I see that he is indeed using a talk box. At no time do you actually see the tube.

Here are a couple of links to build a “ghetto talkbox”
