I like EVERYTHING...
Just would love to have the Hammond Simulation...
I guess I'll have to wait to have enough money for the Oasys
...really, I hope for a future update, with B3 simulation.

Thanks a lot Korg, I totally appreciate these kind of supports for customers!

Problem installing upgrade

Post by sirgant1 »

Jerry/Stephen et. al

I am having a problem installing the upgrade in my new M3 88. I have followed the directions, but when I go to Update System software I keep getting "File/path not found". This happens every time.

Yes, the Korg customer support for M3 is something exceptional.

Because your Oasys is already perfect, while my poor M3 needs attentions. :D

Let's see now, what updates have been released for the Oasys so far:

1. STR-1
2. MS-20
3. POLYSIX
4. MOD-7
5. EXs 3
6. Various OS/Karma improvements.

Yeah Mauro, you're right: support for the Oasys really sucks.
Paul: Don't be nervous.

Yes, you're right, but all the expansions you mention are not free (except for the STR-1 and the Karma improvements). The thing that needs an urgent update it's the sequencer, they wasted time to release expansions and they have not updated the most important thing in a workstation, THE SEQUENCER, so yes the support in my opinion sucks.

Hi Mauro!

Happy to see you're from Italy, I'm from Como.
Sorry to hear what you think about support for your Oasys...
BTW, I agree that buying a workstation which costs a lot and you don't see usefull developments for your should be quite frustrating.
You've got under your fingers a great workstation, and I'm sure these new M3 improovments will be translated for the Oasys, too.
Just be patient and wait.

Just a final consideration, taken from my very poor personal experience: before buying a keyboard, especially if it costs so much $$, try it as much as possibile, to see if it fits ALL (ALL!!!!!) your needs; if not, simply don't buy it

It sounds like your file is not unzipped, or is in some sub-folder... Please check this out.

Just updated my M3-73 yesterday, but I couldn't comment last night because a storm blew out our power.

Now, this is simply a super update for the M3 community. The installation went without a hitch. READ THE "HOW TO INSTALL" pdf folks. It explains what to do very clearly. Just a couple of tips:
* Before you start, make sure you back up any of your own/3rd party material you don't want to lose, because this update will overwrite everything.
1. use a decent empty (no other files or folders on it) USB stick that has been formatted in the M3 (FAT 32).
2. make sure you unzip the download before you start transferring folders and files.
3. copy only the two SYS folders and the 3 KEP files to the USB drive
4. take it over to your M3 and follow the directions Korg provides to a "T", including running the update TWICE as per instructions

As for the KEP files for the expansion instruments, EX 3 should auto load on the next boot up, but the others you will need to load from the MEDIA menu:
1. go to the Load tab and select the KEP files to load.
2. Once loaded, go to the EX-USB PCM tab (in Media mode) and make sure you target (in maroon) under the Auto column, all the PCM expansions you wish to auto load on successive boot ups. I have the EXB 256 RAM installed, so naturally I selected all to auto load.
That's it.

Now, as for revoicing my Catalyst combis, I simply used the Program comparison chart from the VNL. It took me about 5 to 7 minutes to convert one combi depending on the number of timbres it used. I'm almost finished. Of course Stephen Kay's new M3K software will certainly make my job easier on subsequent OASYS to M3 conversions.

There is too much more to be grateful for, but just briefly:
Thank you Korg, thank you Jerry, thank you Stephen, thank everyone involved with this fantastic M3 XPanded.
Cheers,
Eric

thanks EJ2, very clear.

just a question (non-english mothertounge): what do you mean with:

"take it over to your M3 and follow the directions Korg provides to a "T"" ?

and why update needs to be done twice? (curiosity)
