Valediction - Epic Metal with Synth - Free songs

Post by Zurechial »

Hey all, if anyone here is into metal, please check out Valediction, the band I play Keyboards for.

You can hear some tracks that I recorded & produced with the band at our website: www.valediction.org
or on our MySpace profile (lower quality tracks): http://myspace.com/valedictionireland

We have 4 tracks recorded for our first (demo) release, all 4 of which can be heard in full on both sites.

I use a Triton Extreme (with MOSS expansion) as my main synth for all of my strings, choir, piano, etc.
For my lead sound I use a few variations of my own original lead on a Korg Z1, running through the FX processors of the Triton Extreme for Amp Simulation, Overdrive and Delay.
I like a harsh, heavy lead sound that can cut through the mix of a heavy metal band well without sitting too much on top of the guitars.
Unlike most young metal keyboardists these days, my lead doesn't mimic Jens Johansson's or Janne Wirman's - Their leads are nice but not to my taste. :P
I get much more enjoyment out of programming my own lead from scratch on a Z1/MOSS or Triton than from just copying the sounds and settings of influential keyboardists, even if my lead doesn't stand out as being particularly unique or exciting.

Just thought I'd share in case anyone here is interested. :)
We're supporting Firewind and Kiuas in Dublin tonight, which is a bit of a dream come true for me - Getting to share a stage with Gus G. and Bob Katsionis :D

Thanks for checking it out!

Congrats on your dreams coming true there, very cool. I think your music sounds well produced. I do listen to this genre quite a bit and this stands up quite nicely to the standard sound. Good balance all around. My fav of this genre is Type O Negative which I know is a bit different, but they're my fav.

That is cool George. Didn't know you liked TON. My favorite was Bloody Kisses. I had to laugh at their cover of Summer Breeze. But the album is quite melodic.
