Problems with old DS-8

Post by Milter »

I've just got my hands on a korg DS8, but it generate some very bizarre sounds, and nothing makes sense of the display characters. The initial boot screen is ok, but after that nothing works.

According to this link: http://soundprogramming.net/synthesizers/korg/korg_ds_8 The DS8 can go into a "glitch mode" and that pretty much describes my problem.

Anyone know if I can get back to the opriginal setting (resetting to factory preset does not have any effect)

Thanks

Have you tried keys 3 & 4 and power up?

The internal battery is dead man. It's easy to replace. The code for the battery is CR2032, you can find it anywhere, it's a standard coin-like lithium battery. Open the DS8 and unsolder the old battery from the board, and solder the new one. Voila.
