Hey all,
I have recently purchased a microkorg from the US (Im in New Zealand) and noticed that the voltage supply need was 120v when NZ mains run 240v.
I had been running it just off batterys as I didnt have a transformer.
Recently a friend borrowed it and has just rung me up saying it stopped working after he plugged it into the mains through a converter, not a transformer. So pretty much he has destroyed my baby, to say the least i am pissed as being 16 I dont have money to burn.
Just wondering is their anyway at all to fix this? Im reasonably good at fixing electrical stuff, but im not sure what to do here.
Any help would be much appreciated

Same issue my man. Just hopped on here hoping to find some answer.
In France, used a power converter but guess it didn't work or something went haywire.
Next thing you know smoke coming out. Unplugged it right away, and waited. Threw in some batteries. No sound. Heartbreaker.
Does anyone know how much this will cost or how this is to fix?
Thanks,
J

What you do is go over to your friend and get him to pay up in cash or flesh. Either way, you'll feel much better.
He smoked your MicroKorg. It's not worth fixing. You can buy another one cheaper than the repair cost. Burning it up isn't covered under the warrantee - since it doesn't cover idiot friends who plug it in to an electrical system with double the voltage it was designed to handle.
If you do the same thing in France, you now have the French Roast version of the MicroKorg. Deglaze the pan with some white wine to make the sauce, that's the French Way to handle it. Then drink a bottle of brandy in memory of your fallen MicroKorg. You can bury it with a Cross marker as a fitting memorial. Non vive pas la MicroKorg!
