Noticed [this] on a photoshop tutorial site where people were creating cute little [minicars], so I thought it looked very fun and tried a few of my own:- :)

You know, I've always wondered why car wheels are not bigger (taller) than they are.

1) They'll have greater, flatter contact with the ground at any one time, for improved grip (particularly over snow, too) and handling.
2) less revolutions of the wheels at cruising speeds = less fuel. This might be cancelled out by higher revs for lower gears in urban driving though, but in saying that the torque will be lower if the gear ratios are increased meaning the engine has to stress less.
3) Over-sized wheels look cool! Proper well 'ard.

Well, bigger wheels, such as those mounted in SUVs, cause more roll resistance (fuel consumption) and road noise. Also, higher center of gravity results in significant body roll in the curves.
