How do I convert to IntelMac?

Post by Fevre »

Hello everyone

I need my Legacy on the Intel iMac, I'm running 1.1 something version now and of course it won't work. Which upgrade do I need? I can see two, one at 114 USD and one at 15 USD. Can't anyone tell?

The $15 upgrade is for Intel Macs.

The other one is probably for the AE2007 package which adds the MonoPoly to the Legacy Cell, MS-20, and Polysix.

Kind regards.

Thanks. It says I need a USB dongle?? I have the MS-20 controller version, is that ok?
I believe we're talking KORG Legacy Collection (KLC-1) v1.2 Upgrade?

If you have the KLC Digital Edition's Syncrosoft dongle, that's perfect. It's what I use, too.

With regard to the version number, I upgraded so long ago that I can't recall it. But if the price is $15, that's the package you want, since I DO remember that that's the price I paid for that Intel upgrade.

Kind regards.

Hey Dave

I never had a dongle for it, only the MS-20. Is that a problem?

Yes, you need to get your hands on a Syncrosoft dongle. As I said, mine came with the KLC Digital Edition. The only people I know who sell them online (€19 + shipping if you're in Europe) is LinPlug:

Kind regards.

thank you so much Dave, for your time. What you're telling me is that my Legacy works on my old PC without any dongle, but by switching over to IntelMac I suddenly need a dongle?

Thanks

It works on your PC without a dongle because it is an older version of the software. KORG changed the copy protection system from serial to dongle around the time they introduced v1.2. To run KLC on an Intel Mac you need v1.2 – therefore you need the dongle.

Clearer?

I actually found an interesting problem tonight.

I'm running the latest version of KLC-MS20 and the Digital Edition on Logic Studio 8 on my Mac G5 system.

When installing the same software on my MacIntel MBP, Logic 8 only sees 2 of the component/au/vst files...so i can't use them in my songs any more.

Anyone run into this problem? They programs work just fine stand-alone, just not as virtual instruments.

Thanks.

It's strange that they don't make the dongle themselves. Better get going buying stuff so it will work. Again thank you for your time, Dave.

@Fevre: my pleasure. Good luck with it.

@avezeau: check these two locations on your hard drive:

Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components

Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST

Inside the Components folder you should see .component files for all the synths. The VST folder should contain a folder named KORG that contains all the .vst files. Please note that these VST files are needed for KLC stuff to work because the components are simply Korg's own in-house wrappers for the VSTis.

If the files are all present and correct, I can only suggest two things:

1. Open Logic's component/plug-in manager and force recognition.

2. If that doesn't work, trash the files referred to above and reinstall from scratch (possibly with a new download).

3. (OK, so I can't count) Wait for a Logic user to assist – I am a Digital Performer user myself.

Kind regards.

all right. Ordered the dongle. Considered upgrading with the Mono/poly at $114. Could I have some opinions on this issue, is the synth worth the bucks? AND

do I have to buy both the $15 upgrade AND the $114 to get Mono/poly to work? In other words, is the $15 upgrade included in the $114 upgrade?

The Mono/poly is an excellent addition to the KLC family and, IMO, worth every penny. Bear in mind, however, that it cannot be combined with the MS-20 or the Polysix inside the Legacy Cell structure. But I wouldn't be without it.

To my knowledge, both upgrades are required.

Kind regards.

hello

I bought the 15 dollar upgrade vers. 1.2. Installed both software from Korg and Synchrosoft, put in the USB dongle. Guess I need to go to Licence Control center, but I can't seem to do anything here. It says there's an USB nr. 83...something, and further down "no lincences". All I can do here is refresh. Does anybody know what to do to get to an activation code area?

I also got a notice saying it (the dongle) can't be installed on this computer, 2.0 GhZ iMac running Leopard.
