HELP!! NO STEREO SOUND WHEN RECORDING!!

Post by Charilaos »

ok i have an x50 and i want to record some things i wrote. i have a creative x-fi elite pro sound card on my pc (quite advanced) so trere are many ways to connect my synth to my pc. I connected the x50 via a minijack to RCA cable. from the x50's headphone out to my pc's AUX in (RCA). great stereo sound no problems at all... but when i tried to record i got mono sound (and half the volume) no matter what program i used (i tried recording with both Cubase LE and Audacity).

anyone familiar with this problem or knows what i'm doing wrong???

tnx!!

The only thing i can think of, is to make sure your software is accessing the correct input device. As you have stated your soundcard can offer numerous ways to connect the keyboard, so just make sure that you're using the same input to record with as you are to connect your keyboard.

"I connected the x50 via a minijack to RCA cable. from the x50's headphone out to my pc's"

for a start this is wrong, you should not connect the sound from the headphone jack on the synth to your soundcard, the immedence coming out of the headphone jack is far more powerfull signal than what you should ever be putting into a sound card for a start.....

If you are to output from your x50 - 2x 1/4 inch jack plugs L/R to your PC soundcards LINE INPUT - 2x Mono 1/4 inch jack (outputs from the back of the x50) >>>> Stereo Mini Jack (line input to the soundcard)
