R3 arp to matrix-1000
"Can i use the arpreggiator with a oberheim matrix 1000? "
Yes:
First connect the MIDI OUT on the R3 to the MIDI IN on the Matrix-1000
Then make sure the R3 global parameter "position" (page 40) is set to "Post KBD".
That way the arp-notes are being sent to the midi-out on the R3.
The MIDI Channel on the Matrix-1000 should be set aproaprietly e.g. 1.
Now play the R3 with the arp on.

Yes:
Connect Audio Output (in this case Mono) of Matrix-1000 to Audio Input L on the R3.
Make sure you have the front panel Audio input button in position "rear" and the input selector at the back of the R3 to position "line".
Adjust the input level of audio-in 1 using the knob, so that the signal led doesn´t flash red. Start from an R3 Init Patch, Select Audio-In as the first Oscillator. Set the parameter Control 2/Balance (page5) to L63.
Now in the Insert FX Slots 1 and 2 you may select the desired type of FX.
Assign the Front knobs to IFX1 Dry/Wet and IFX2 Dry/wet.
With this you can now adjust the amount of direct and wet signal of the InsertFX on the front panel.
Don´t forget, that you have to press at least one note on the R3 to hear a sound.
I think the best way to keep a note on the R3 pressed is to use the hold function using a footswitch. Now play the Matrix(by Sequencer or by MIDI OUT of R3).
Sounds quite complicated at first, but once you have everything set just save it as a preset.
Hope this was a help to you.

R3 arp to matrix-1000
You´re welcome!
I did some example patches focusing on external input, which i will share in the download-section within the next week.
So just keep an eye on the DL-Section.
I hope there are some other guys too coming up with patches using the ext capabilities of the R3, because you can really make interesting sounds with this feature.
I even connected my electric-guitar to the R3, and use it as an virtual amp/distortion FX device.
