OS Bugs, Beware!
I got my m50 last week and I was really loving it.. it sounds great and offers alot for the price. The problem came when I decided to calibrate the LCD screen to see if I could get it more accurate. I am now locked out of my m50 because the calibration is so far off I can't use any of the screen elements any more. I know what your thinking... (factory reset) well it does not reset the calibrartion of the screen. This sucks because there is no apparent way to fix this issues it remains uncalibrated after the factory reset. I can still enter the calibration setup screen using the number pad but even it no longer allows re-calibration. I picked up the only one in stock so there are no others to exchange for yet. So if you pick up one of these don't try to recalibrate the screen because it can leave your m50 crippled.
While that screen problem sounds like a pain in the ass, the bigger question in my mind right now is where did you get yours from? Every local retailer and all the online sites show Korg doesn't even start shipping them until Nov. 1st.
Life is short, play a KORG!
Current: Pa5X, Nautilus
Past: M1, X5D, N364, Karma, X50, TR61, M50, micro-Korg, Triton Extreme, Pa3x, Roland Fantom 06, Akai mpc key61

Moog Audio
Moog Audio had only one and I jumped all over it. I just hope they can fix the screen issue fast. Because there is not other units to exchange for mine right now.

From the manual:
Note: If you are unable to select commands from the
menu, do the following:
1. Press the GLOBAL switch.
2. Press the EXIT switch twice.
3. Hold down the ENTER switch and press 3 on the
numeric keypad.
The Touch Panel Calibration page will appear. Follow
the on-screen instructions to re-calibrate the touch
panel.
Hope you can return to a functional touch screen. Manuals are your friends.

M50
I still cant use my screen and because I think I got the only unit in Quebec I have to wait for an exchange. This is not all bad news for me because the included VSTi editor is quite nice. I have my m50 integrated into FL-Studio 8 and I love this setup.
M50 is very nice... I dont care about sampling because FLstudio is amazing for this.
M50 1.0.3 software is out now BTW... I dont remember the link but its on korg.com
Still it did not fix my screen issues. ;(

Love it
Ok I still do not have a working LCD screen... I welcome anyone to calibrate there screen three times in a row and tell me if it will brick your m50 screen.
But don't say I have not warned you...
The synth is amazing for all types of sounds and the power of the editing + effects features go deep.
I have never used the OASYS or M3 but I can say that this by far much better sounding then any other synth I have owned. Most Roland. (I have never owned a Roland that sounds this good and is this natural and easy to work with.))
The downs for me are... the mono LCD screen...
It's this ancient mono LCD technology from way back and it is not easy to see even after tweaking the contrast. The keys are "the joke of semi weighted synth action keys". If you look under the keys you can see some paper thin weights that really are not heavy enough. I love the feel of my Novation X-Station keyboard semi weighted keys a lot more.

Not lucky
Well mine was at 1.0 and when I got home I was in bliss playing with the m50 and it's screen. It was working well but as I went through the manual I saw how to calibrate the screen and I did. It worked the first time but the second the top left hand square will not turn black when touched. I've only upgraded to 1.03 after the fact.
Oh well I'm going to be getting a replacement soon.
