I upgraded our 8 years old AV setup with a Phillips 42 inch Cineos, and this baby.... the 876....:

Should be with me within a week or so.

For video, I chose the Sony BDP-S550.

Now I am broke... :D

 Well, the Onkyo has the Imaging Science Foundation ISF label, which means that they implemented software into the receiver so that I can calibrate my Phillips using a spectrophotometer, a function which is quite useful to me of course.

thx folks :D

I am really excited about that. This is my first serious amp since a looong time. 3 years warranty sweatened the deal.

I remember when we got our first DVD, it was build into a compaq whcih had a 15" screen, and we sat all night in front of that going uuuuh and aaahhh. LOL What a change that was from VCR in deed.

I am particulary interested in DTS Master Audio and how this really comes across. A friend of mine mentioned to me it is jaw dropping.

Another interesting thing is Audyssey, apparently, they have a function that automatiocally levels back the annoying dB boost when advertisements are broacasted.

Amazing what they pack into receivers these days! Really a space ship. LOL
