os 2 status update from Korg Italy
sexykorgpa800
How dare you talk about my baby like that . Each night I rub her down and carefully/gently wipe her buttons while her screen watches everything I am doing. If shes been good I will let her seduce me with her magical voice(s) before she goes to sleep for the night.
It is a bit crowded in the bed with the three of us but I won't let Mrs Poppins come between PA (as I call her) and me.
PA is still waiting for her injection which I am informed will give her more versatility (not that I am complaining about the services she currently provides) and hopefully will be receiving it in a few days.
Mrs Poppins has told me that she is taking me to a nice place shortly where I can stay for a while. The walls of the room are in a soft white material and all the people wear white coats. Unfortunately the room does not have any windows and I am not sure if PA can come.
As I said this waiting is not affecting my mental state.
Best wishes

The history of OS 2.0 so far:
On the 16. of July OS 2.0 is announced on korgpa.com. No details are given.
On the 13. of September some details about OS 2.0 is published on korgpa.com.
This means that we have now waited for over four months for OS 2.0
I find it very hard to patient for so long time, especially when Korg eggs us on it which phrase like "a complete new keyboard". In addition the Pa800 owners among us have looked envious on all the improvements made in Pa2X - especially in the style section. Only when OS 2.0 is released we will know for sure if these improvements are carried over to the Pa800.
I agree that we should keep this thread very alive until OS 2.0 is actually released
Kind regards,
Tommy

History is repeating, but the OS 2.0 will NOT have all the changes that everyone here wants. This is commonly known.
The OS development is a free development. Waiting for 4 months is nothing compared to not getting any OS. They are putting a lot of time, money and effort in new OS where this is all for free.
No one of Korg promissed they would make free OS when you bought the keyboard so I think a lot of people here are spoiled like little children and complaining about a wonderful free OS service.
This post of mine is regarding the OS ! So bear in mind, I am not speaking about all the problems of individual users and all the bugs and freezes and lock ups. This is something that Korg needs to fix and of course it is a big shame if they do not do it ! But everyone here has legal rights and legal possibilities to demand via a judge if needed be to get a working keyboard.
For all the others users like me without any problems on the keyboard we are all VERY HAPPY and thankful for these free OS updates, especially when they have all the new stuff as anounced
Whether I need it is another question, but I sure am thankful. Like the guitar mode: this is a total free and unique thing that is given to us for free and hopefully in OS 2.0 the announced things will also be so cool.
Just my 2 cents ...
(if someone didn't understand my post I am sorry in advance)

Not quite true. Free OS upgrades have been a central part of Korgs marketing strategy for many years. Here is what they write in the Pa800 brochure:macboy wrote:No one of Korg promissed they would make free OS when you bought the keyboard so I think a lot of people here are spoiled like little children and complaining about a wonderful free OS service
Not only you can expand your Pa800, you can also easily keep it new with operating system updates. These updates are available as free downloads from www.korgpa.com and will ensure your investment is protected!
However, my post was not meant as a criticism of Korg. I think that Korg Italy is doing a great job with the Pa series, but I don't understand why we can't be allowed to be both excited and a little impatient about the OS upgrade? Who will it hurt?
The OS 2.0 thread is now back on top

bulshit....
OS2.0 is just PUBLICITY ! nothing more than marketing strategy : c'mon guys, buy this keyboards... new OS that well be available "soon", will completely change your pa800/pa2xpro... BULSHIT !
more than 4 month since they first anounced this new OS... in all this time, they sold a lot of keyboards...
a few DNC sounds,a ninth drawbar and other new features added it takes no more than 1 month for software development department to put them in a new OS...
this is what I call MARKETING !!!

Life without music means nothing !
I did not think that Korg was a charity institution?
Come on what kind of a remark was that ??
Of course Korg wants to make money and a profit. That is their own intereset. Satisfied customers however means more long term profit.
But Korg is a firm who wants to make a profit and money.
So YES is it of course all about publicity.
Disappointed ?
Welcome to the real world

Do you know the size of Korg Italy's software team?marsuleu wrote:a few DNC sounds,a ninth drawbar and other new features added it takes no more than 1 month for software development department to put them in a new OS...

Korg Pa800, Pa50, i30, Hammond E111, Edirol PCR-800, M-Audio Audiophile FW, Cakewalk Sonar LE, Band-In-A-Box, Harmony Assistant, VB3, MrRay73, Pianoteq...
I'm not going to take a wild guess, but I would say it's a very small team. I'm not saying this is the case, but from the posts that i read i noticed that people had some major complaints about korg's attitude towards existing customers. Usually a successful company is the one that doesn't only focus on bringing new customers, but keep the existing one happy as well. I haven't seen them interact with users here all that much. Of course, they don't need to pop up on every single thread on daily basis. But i see how they're totally out of reach. I wouldn't know because i'm a newbie, but the ones who've been around for a while would know if this OS has included the interest of the existing customers when it comes out. If they don't see a trace of anything they've been wanting to have, then it's fair to say they have not been paying attention to current users. That could be a very bad marketing decision too. We just have to wait for now.iaoranaemaeva wrote:Do you know the size of Korg Italy's software team?marsuleu wrote:a few DNC sounds,a ninth drawbar and other new features added it takes no more than 1 month for software development department to put them in a new OS...

Well, I’m a ‘Newbie’ to Korg World, however, Marketing is a major concept that ALL Manufacturers use to varying degree’s. They need to maintain their product sales, even coax users from other makes of keyboard……..I’m one of them as I chose pa2x over T3…… I would like to say though, from my point of view, that Korg stand out from the others in that they do actually try to update their keyboards with innovations and not just ‘bug’ fixes. They are at the moment playing ‘catch up’ with Yamaha T3 and it’s SA2 Voices even though the pa2x is at least as good and better in many ways than the T3 as it stands. I know that some people have hardware and software issues and I hope that Korg address these problems in the very near future , who knows? maybe they are looking at them as we patiently wait for OS2.
I love this pa2x whether it has an update or not. That’s the way I bought it and so I must have been happy with my decision to change from Yamaha [psr740, psr2000, psr2100, Prs9000, Tyros] to Korg. The ‘update’ is a Bonus! The Collection of styles and other software on the Korg site is a Bonus. This Forum and all it’s Korg faithful Member’s and their help is a ‘Bonus’.
As the song says…
Always Look on the Bright Side of Life (from Monty Python)
From: A Faire To Remember - words and music by Eric Idle
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...
If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.
And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.
So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath
Life's a piece of s**t
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...

OS2.0 will not make PA800/PA2Xpro a whole new keyboard ! just a few minor features added doesn't mean you'll have a NEW Korg Arranger !
