So I am posting here because neither Korg or Propellerhead are willing to help. Both parties are pointing the finger at the other and I'm getting no where.
So, I have reason 4.0.1 (build 973) the newest version which supports Native mode for the Kontrol49. I have updated the Kontrol49 to the latest Drivers found on the korg site. I am on a PC running XP Pro.
Basically the keyboard works correctly but the control section doesn't do anything. Reason will recognize that the control portion is sending information but it isn't able to control anything.
Reason is the only software I have to test this on so I can't plug into another software to test that it is infact isolated with Reason or if it's the controler.
Help!
Kontrol49 control section not working with Reason

I had this problem as well. I don't know if you still have this it , since it's been a while.
I think it's kind of lame that Korg doesn't answer posts like these, for you may have thrown out or sold your K49 by now, due to it not working right.
Once it's been properly setup with Reason though, I think it is the best thing. The K49 can control (almost) everything in Reason. It's really well done!
The problem was because I had the Kontrol 49 set to another global midi channel than 1.
So what I did to fix it was the following:
- On the K49, press 'Scene' with pad13 (scene midi channel).
- The main display should display ScnCh#x (SceneChannel x).
- Press the Octave Up button.
- Now the main display should display GlbCh#x (Global Channel x).
- Turn the main encoder (counterclockwise) until it says GlbCh#01.
- Press the enter button on the K49.
- Now go into Reason's setup uncheck and recheck the 'Use with Reason' checkbox in the K49 Control Surface page and it should all be working.
At least it did for me.
It kind of makes sense. Reason wants to initiate contact with the K49 on M.ch 1. If it doesn't find it, it cannot upload all the sysex stuff that makes the K49 work with it.
Basically if the K49 is set to a scene with GlbMch=01, then Reason will take over and switch it to Native Mode. If the scene has another global channel, it will not.
Cheers,
Alex
