Hi Robokeys,
I agree with you. At this point in time, I would not buy a Pa2x until Korg rectify the design, recall the affected products, and tell us the problem is guaranteed not to recur. More worrying to me than LED failure are the many experiences (me, Pa2x, PraiseTheLord and others) of complete hardware lockups during a gig, right in the middle of a live performance.
The failures are unpredictable and unrepeatable. You just can't rely on the product. No service center will fix the root cause of the problems because they have no diagnosis or recall notice from Korg Labs about it. Oh sure they will change the LED's but then you and I know that the new ones will blow again within a few weeks after we get the keyboard back.
I've been in contact with Korg Labs about the seriousness of the problems at various times during the last 6 months, but despite my frequent offers, they have not recalled my own Pa2x keyboard and nor have they provided any feedback to me to indicate that they have any solution available.
So in the mean time my Pa2x is worthless because I can not depend on it, and it is unrepairable until Korg Labs get to the bottom of the problems. Something they seem reluctant or unable to do.
And I NEVER had any of these problems on my dependable Pa1x Pro which I wish I had never sold.
Best regards,
Rob

I know that some of you/us with failed LED's don't want to be without your/our keyboards. However could everyone please return your Pa2x keyboards for repair right now? Korg Labs need the faulty components to be returned to them so they can rectify any design problem.
Also if your Pa2x has ever locked up so that no keys respond any more, please ask for the intermittent keyboard lock up problem to be fixed at the same time.
I can sympathise to some extent with any feedback from Korg that if users will not return products for repair, how can the manufacturer repair the product?
These various issues are now in the bright spotlight and we all need to actively participate if a solution is to be found.
Thanks,
Rob

2 leds not working
I have now been waiting for more than a month for new leds to arrive.
The Danish company "Hi End" is the main Repair Center in Denmark.
They did not have leds in stock. So they ordered a total amount of 4 leds in Sweden(Main Suplier for Korg Skandinavia),but they did not have them in stock. So they ordred (only)4 leds in Japan. So the leds arrived 2 days ago.BUT none of them fit into a Pa2X.
Now I wonder what their next move will be.Will my warranty run out before I get i repaired.

Has anyone suggested that the LED problem could be something common in the early released pa2x's.
I haven't had any failures at all, can those of you who have had LED problems describe when it happens ie: did it occur randomly when you were playing or does it normaly occur out of the blue or when you turn on the keyboard.
Thanks.

KORG PA2XPRO
Hi Rob, sorry for responding to this threat late. If you remember I was one of the first ones that bought the pa2x pro from Belgium before USA started selling.
No , back then the only problem that I had the keyboard was freezing and you know what I went thru until the new OS came out.
The only problem that I have right now is every time I turn on my keyboard and leave it on for couple of days I loose one led. I am gonno try to open the keyboard on this long weekend and see what kind of leds it takes and see if I can replace them.

Hi Bescki,Bescki wrote:I own PA800, I wanted to sell my pa800 and buying a PA2X Pro. But Now I am afraid about LEDs. So, maybe it is better to keep my pa800.. hmm?!
I did the same thing and it was like I bought a totally different keyboard!!
PA2X is great!! Don't hesitate to buy one. I think the led problem has to do only with some of the first pieces. Mine is OK!!

Dimitris

Well,
I upgraded to OS 2.0... twice (the second time I formatted the SSD memory and uploaded the whole 114 Mb resource bank) and now I have the following LEDs not working:
1- Display hold (not working even before the upgrade)
2- Memory
3- Volume (toppermost LED on the Slider Mode row)
4- Banks 2 of Styles (the lower LED doesn't light when I switch from one bank of styles to another and also when I choose the Favorite bank)
5- Style Play (both when I select the Style Play option and the Demo mode)
What am I supposed to do?

I guess Korg might want to know whether this is a hardware problem and just co-oincidence that it happened during the OS2 upgrade, or whether it is something to do with software as well. You may like to revert to the previous OS using the "restore" procedure with the full OS-RES combined release for OS1.11?
Is there any change to the LED status?
a) If there is a change then there is a software fault interacting with the Left/ right panel board multiplexor circuitry, causing what appears to be LED failure. If there is a change in LED status when you revert to OS1.11 then, if I was the product manager, I would recall your Pa2x for investigation. This is the first time anyone has provided evidence that the root cause of the LED failures may be an interaction between the hardware and the software.
b) If there is no change then there is a hardware fault in the Left/ right panel board multiplexor circuitry causing actual LED failure. In that case you will have to return the Pa2x to the dealer for a warranty repair or replacement. It's up to you when you do it. If you do it too early before the labs have all the answers, then it will be hit or miss whether any repair work solves the reliability problem in the long term.
Best regards,
Rob
What the H is Korg doing...This is not rocket science!
Korg needs a BUNCH of these back in their hands NOW!
All they have to do is notify each Country's distibutor/dealers that if one comes in with these symptoms to return it to Korg untouched by their service dept. Give the customer a new one immediately.
That way people will return them instead of waiting for root cause fix or to be without your board for weeks.
Then, they should have plenty of bad parts/keyboards to analyse.
If Korg does not NEED them to identify this problem, well that's fine too.
But, if the service cemters do not have the correct parts on hand Korg needs to get them there in stock now so downtime will be minimum.
OR, how about this approach for us all.....
If we have this problem show up...we return the board for a full refund, then when the root cause is identified and a fix put in productions units...we buy a PA2XPRO again!

I now have 4 LEDs not working: Mode: Style Play, Performance Select, Mic Setting On, Mic Setting Effects
I am not sure of when exactly when they stopped functioning since I do not check every LED every day, but I have now tested every LED today.
I also reloaded OS 1.10 to see if they functioned with that level, and the result was the same, so it is not a software issue.

The French importer (Gaffarel) and service centers have a stock, they begun fixing the Pa2X - not very simple to change the 2 offending bords (2h15). When do you plan to return it to get it fixed? I believe it freezes sometimes as well. Could you confirm what happens during a freeze?
Cheers,
Rob
