Hi Lee,
Well, I got frustrated about things, and like a fool I went and upset everyone by cancelling my involvement in the project. I said to Korg that I didn't want to keep the Pa2x that Korg had given me (in connection with the project).
Also I had invested about £1500 in the project and I told my project partner MickB that I was writing the investment off. I'm not a very good negotiator am I?
So I can't blame anyone but myself about it.
If despite my foolishness, Korg manage to fix the keyboard and want to let me have it back, then I will repent of my sins and see if MickB and Korg want me to help with the project again. I can't in all honesty blame anyone if they want to say "good riddance".
Best regards,
Rob

Rob,
Hey man...don't be so hard on yourself...we have been fighting some real issues here and for a long time had NO feedback (even at your connection level). I think things are a lot better now.
So, just I hope you and Korg work it out and the project goes on.
It's just human to get emotional at times, we all do it, no matter how professional we are.
Remember..it's those that really care that this happens to!

If I play 2 upper notes, that's true on my Pa800 (OS2) too. But it recognises the chord with 3 upper notes (or more) in addition to the remote bass note (Expert Mode).Lee wrote:I also discovered that anytime the upper is needed to build the chord ALONG with the lower, there can not be more than 17 half steps away from the lower notes in order for it to work. Fingered 3 mode does the same. Lower does not care about the spread. BUT Upper always cares about this 17 note spread??? No chords are recognised if the notes are not in this 17 note spread.
Like Rob, I never noticed that before, since I usually play rather closed chords (3 or 4 notes) with my left hand in the middle of the keyboard (no bass root)

Chord Scanning
I am a very new member and hesitant to comment but I spent some time working with the chord scanning issue.
With everything set "by the book" it seems that three finger chords are not recognized but four or more fingered chords are recognized regardless which notes are played where.
All of this on Pa2x w/OS2.
Does not seem correct regardless if it was this way in previous OS.

Which Chord Recognition Mode are you in?Ron wrote:With everything set "by the book" it seems that three finger chords are not recognized but four or more fingered chords are recognized regardless which notes are played where.

Let's forget "beginners" modes (Fingered 1 and One Finger).
In Fingered 2 and Expert :
- 1 note => unison
- 2 notes => one chord/interval (see Manual: Appendix Recognized Chords);
- 3 notes and more => see ditto;
In Fingered 3, 3 notes are needed (less flexible than the previous ones IMHO);
Anyway, without knowing the context (i.e. song tonality and neighbour chords), the Pa always gives the best guess. No wonder: it's completely deterministic, so a human player could not do better

I apologise for commenting at a time when my Pa2x is on holiday. Obviously I haven't tried all this under OS2. I'm just writing about the behaviour on the previous OS and on the Pa1x in case this helps to clarify the issues ....
For over 2 years I used my Pa1x and more recently Pa2x as follows:
When playing 4 or more notes ANYWHERE on the keyboard, the appropriate chord has ALWAYS been recognised. When playing only 1 or 2 notes simultaneously there has NEVER been any chord change. Sometimes the chord will change if you play 3 unique notes that are unambiguous.
So could you please try using your keyboards with the above exact same settings under OS2, and can you answer the following:
Best regards,
Rob
For over 2 years I used my Pa1x and more recently Pa2x as follows:
- Accompaniment/ Chord Scanning buttons --- set to "Full" (ie both LED's ON)
Split button --- set to OFF
Memory button - set to ON
On The Style Preferences Tab:
Memory mode --- set to CHORD
Chord Recognition --- set to EXPERT

So could you please try using your keyboards with the above exact same settings under OS2, and can you answer the following:
- Does the chord change when you play only 2 different notes? (never)
Is the correct chord recognised when you play 4 or more different notes? (yes)
Is the correct chord recognised when you play a major or minor triad? (yes)
Is there any limitation about a recognition range or note separation distance of e.g. 17 half steps? (no)

1. I never use the Styles( except for drums when our drummer is sick or drunk)

2. I use a 2nd (master) keyboard (see below)
