Sampled Sounds not working

Post by shahab »

Hey everyone,

The sampled sounds I load to my PA1XPro Elite, won't sound properly! I only load one sound to see if it's the RAM memory issue, it doesn't work either way. Specially the drum kits I have them; I can hear the standard kits but not the sampled ones.

Would you please help?

i think it is the autoload PCM. Go to disk and look for autoload PCM. I think it is out on your pa. You must turn it on, then your pa will load the sample data.

Hi Shahaab

How are you "loading" the sampled sounds?

Do you have OS 3.01 installed?

Cheers

Hi Pete,

I got the samples from a nice guy from Canada. They are all Iranian sounds and styles. I haven't got an extended 16MB RAM yet, but just wanted to test my keyboard if it works good or not. So I loaded a sample sound which was 1.1KB and it didn't work :(
All I need to know is if there is a wrong with my keyboard again or not.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Shahaab

OK - but I just wondered how you were loading them

The best way with OS 3.01 installed, is to simply load the "SOUND" (that uses the RAM samples) and then the samples will automatically load. Note that this does not work with OS2.54 or earlier.

Cheers

Hi,
1.1kb looks far too small to be a sample sound. You sample sound set should contain 3 folders if its going to work MULTISMP, PCM and SOUND.
Open the .set file you were given on a computer. If these 3 folders aren't there it wont work.
The PCM folder should be megabytes not kilobytes in size.
Regards,
John
PS : Its a good idea to open any files given to you anyway - you should usually delete any other folders such as GLOBAL or SONGBOOK anyway so it won't upset your keyboard - unless of course you wanted someone else's global settings.

Pete,

I load the sound from its folder (SOUND) and user bank as you said above. I also load the performance, it doesn't work either. This is quite obvious because I haven't put the 16MB additional RAM yet. That's why I just loaded one sound to test the keyboard.

I'll wait for the RAM to see how it will be then.

John,

Thanks for your reply. The folders I've got contain all the folders and files you mentioned; I think it's my RAM memory shortage. Let's see what happens when I install the new RAM.
