What's your experience of having led's repaired?
Hi, well 2 more led's have blown now (Memory and Split, which are v important for me to see). I am concerned that it is continuing to happen, I do not want to fix these and then others go, so I have been waiting. But I am going to have to get this fixed soon.
What is your experience of having this repair done? How long did it take? Any other advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi there,
this is my experience:
A few leds blew up on my pa2xpro.
So last week I called the repair center and monday morning (12/01/2009) a shipping company took my keyboard free of charge.
They didn't only change the broken leds, they changed 2 boards where the leds are soldered to so should not have those problems anymore.
Today (15/01/2009) I am happily playing my keyboard again. They delivered to me at 15:00 oclock and again, free of charge.
Maybe i'm lucky that I live in Italy and 450 km away from the repair center.
Anyway this is my experience.

You should contact your dealer by telephone to arrange to send the Pa2x to the nearest authorised Korg repair center. Before you send the keyboard please verify with the repair center that the necessary circuit boards are in stock. The L & R front panel circuit boards (part numbers GRA0002130 and GRA0002131) will need to be replaced. If there is any problem please have the repair center verify this with Korg Labs who recently performed the same repair on my Pa2x.
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Graham,
Yes, those two boards include all the LED's and all the buttons.
They don't include the display and dial wheel.
Personally I have confidence that replacing the complete boards including ALL LED's and buttons will ensure no recurrence of LED failures in future. It might also fix the other problems you and I have corresponded about, but time will tell. It is a good step anyway, and at least the LED reliability problem on these two boards has been traced and fixed in the replacement boards.
Thinking about it - could LED junction breakdowns have triggered the other problems? Maybe they could ... if the failures involved transient short circuits before they blew.
My repaired Pa2x is currently in the post !
Best regards,
Rob

I have contacted a repair center, and today received this response.
"I talked to a tech at Korg this morning and he is aware of the problem but most problems are reported in Europe. He gave me those 2 part numbers and I ordered them from the parts department. They are looking to see it those boards are in stock or if they need to order them from Japan. They are going to call me later with an ETA on the boards. They claim that they haven't had but a few repairs for that model, so they don't have many repairs on the shelf yet."
So, as Mr Tramannoni reported, few problems have been brought to the attention of the US dealerships. My dealer (Frank, Audioworks) said that I was the first of his customers to mention the problem to him.
Anyway, I'm on the way to getting it fixed, and the repair center seem responsive so far. I am sure glad to have information on progress.

I struggled to understand the note from the repair center, so went back and did an analysis of the locations of those who contributed to the faulty led problem thread. 14 people complained of problems, only one from US (me); although there were 2 (fResH and mono) who show no location.
So if that is representative the repair center comment is fair.

Latest report from the Service Center:
"Korg finally returned my call to tell me that the parts have been ordered from Japan, None in the U.S., expect them to arrive in 4-5 weeks."
I must say that having identified the problem, patiently and understandingly reported it on this forum, PM'd Mr Tramannoni twice, this is disappointing to hear that Korg are not geared up to fix the problems in the US in a better timescale.

Korg PA2x Repair...U.S.A.
Hello Graham
Very Nice to meet You!...I just joined the Forum to Give You Moral Support. I Live in Pennsylvania, USA. I read the Korg Form Daily and think It's a great Forum.
I currently Play a Tyros2 with a Roland RD-300sx Stage Piano for My Wife. My Plans are maybe(Were) to add a Korg in the future. I really like to have a 76 key model so the PA2x would be my first choice...Second choice being the PA-800.
We are VERY fortunate to have a Great Korg Dealer in the Eastern USA Autioworks....Frank.
But after reading the time frame for your parts to come from Korg Japan to Your Service Center(4-5 weeks) is UNACCEPTABLE to say the least. That Has to be one SLOW airplane KORG. One other question Korg USA...Now this is the first LED Board Defects to show up, did You order EXTRA BOARDS?....or is going to be a 2 month repair job for each one now that happens in the future?
I came real close to Purchasing a PA2x just a Month ago. Honestly what held Me off was this LED problem. There is NO way I would EVER purchase a Pre-owned PA2x without a warranty. This is the first Keyboard I have EVER felt this way about.....And it's to bad, It's a AWSOME Keyboard.
Graham. I hope this letter gets the attention of Korg US and get's You a better response.
Sincerely, Harold E. Surrena USA

Hi Graham,
I sympathise with you about the delay, but I hope you won't be offended that I think your current impatience is a little at odds with your previous decision to await the outcome of the labs testing my Pa2x.
Probably, the ne panel boards are too expensive to be in stock in every country, so they have to be special ordered from Japan. That's why I suggested that you contact the repair center by phone before taking your keyboard in, so you could continue to use it in the meantime, while the new circuit boards are ordered in from Japan.
Bearing in mind that we waited for over a year for this fault to be diagnosed and resolved, is another 5 weeks unreasonable, now there is light at the end of the tunnel? Maybe living on a Greek island has slowed down my own expectations of timescales.
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Rob
Fear not, I have not left the board with the repair center. But I still think it is lousy service not to have one in the country and then not to be able to airfreight one sooner than 4-5 weeks!
Remember my patience was also related to the fact that the initial led failures were not critical. The latest ones are critical to me in the way I use the board.
I definitely think you're coming down with island fever.
Good for you, it's great for your blood pressure.
Best wishes

Hi Graham,
I hope the new gremlin-busting circuit boards arrive before all the LED's have blown. Apparently, once the "gremlins" finish attacking the LED's they emerge from the keyboard and start eating the owners' fingers
Hope you can laugh at it now there is light at the end of tunnel!
I'd be surprised if Korg USA would not loan you a Pa2x in the circumstances.
Best regards,
Rob

Grahm,
I suggest you call Korg USA and specifically ask for Jerry Kovarsky. He is the guy...Tell him what's going on and ask if he could not EXPEDITE the parts for you. 4-5 weeks is to long too wait, IMHO.
That's probabbly the standard answer they give for special order out of stock parts.
Jerry is very aware of this problem and I am confident he will take care of you to the very best of his ability.
